The Expeditionary Department is seeking an experienced Communications Engineer with a background in designing, implementing, and supporting network infrastructure services to include Base Area Network (BAN)/ Local Area Network (LAN), Dense Wavelength-Division Multiplexing (DWDM), Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), and Voice Transport.  The candidate will also have experience working with DoD Installations (Base/Post/Station) network infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly technical candidate seeking to be part of a collaborative team organized to demonstrate their skills to push the boundaries of military digital and mission engineering. This position requires creative problem solving through novel applications of systems of systems engineering and systems thinking to facilitate application of new technologies to the naval expeditionary operational space. Job Responsibilities:

Develop technology roadmaps aligned with DoD policy for implementing secure network infrastructureDeep understanding of Installation (Base/Post/Station) Network InfrastructureUnderstand current and future technologies to modernize network infrastructure and IT services to include Voice, DWDM, BAN/LAN, and WLAN.Understand enterprise networking, cellular networking (5G/xG), network modeling and simulation, cloud and containerization, tactical networks, satellite communications, enterprise IT servicesUse data and analytics to understand usages and trends on storage and backup infrastructure.Assist the development and implementation of best practices, compliance standards, and security controls for on prem and cloud infrastructure.Participate in an environment that emphasizes trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive team effort.Understand data pipelines so that you can help identify and resolve issues.

Basic Qualifications: 

Typically, Bachelors degree and a minimum of 8 years of related experience, or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.8+ years of data infrastructure technology experience with at least 5 years designing, deploying, implementing, and maintaining enterprise network architecturesExperience with data lifecycle including data architectures, data storage, system integrations, system maintenance, system migrations, data transfers, and data archival.Experience engineering security boundaries, WAN architecture, LAN architecture, network monitoring plans, and solutions for public key enablement.Experience delivering highly available and scalable solutions.Ability to lead and participate in the research and evaluation of new technologies, hardware, software, services, and implementation processes.Solve complex technical problems, communicate ideas, and plans to a diverse set of colleagues, negotiate technical solutions across teams when needed.Develop and maintain documentation for processes and system configurations, author standard operating procedures for Infrastructure standards.Direct experience collaborating on the design and integration of a broad range of enterprise IT capabilities from multiple vendors spanning functional areas.Active DoD Secret clearance, ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance.This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presence.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in a technical discipline (e.g., information systems, systems engineering, computer science, information technology).Knowledge of Navy, Marine Corps, Joint, and Interagency domains.Cloud storage and archival services including AWS, Azure Files, and GCPInfrastructure automation and configuration management framework and scripting languages including Ansible, Chef, Python, Ruby, Terraform, PowerShell, etc.CompTIA Security+ or equivalent security certification.CompTIA Network+ or equivalent networking certificationA current/active DoD Top Secret clearance.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$137,000 - $171,500 - $206,000 Annual
