Communications Intern
COLSA Corporation
COLSA’s Communications team is looking for a creative intern pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, graphic design, videography, writing, or some other related field. Your main project would be to increase engagement on COLSA’s Instagram by creating 8-10 Stories or Reels for the Summer. You will work with the Comms Team to brainstorm concepts, create a content plan, set interviews with employees, write/design/record, edit, submit for review, schedule, and analyze each Story/Reel. Along with Instagram, you will help with social media strategy, intern event support, scheduling and administrative tasks, and other related duties.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
+ Assists the Communications team with social media creation. Heavy emphasis on Instagram Stories and Reels.
+ Creates 8-10 Stories/Reels on Instagram.
+ Pitches ideas for new content, focusing on growing engagement.
+ Interviews employees for stories about capabilities, culture, and reputation.
+ Work with the Comms team from brainstorming all the way to publishing on the social media platform.
+ Helps gather analytics and learns how to interpret data to better inform new strategies.
+ Assists the Internal Communications Specialist with 2025 intern event execution including planning, set up, clean up, and evaluating success with after-action reviews.
+ Supports the biggest intern event of the summer, the Colympics, by planning games, writing rules, encouraging intern participation, and pricing supplies.
+ Suggests items for swag giveaways and prizes.
+ Performs miscellaneous assigned intern projects and follows them to completion.
+ Works with the Graphic Designer to suggest social media graphics, newsletter additions, and other graphics.
+ Works with the Corporate Communications Manager to assist with general marketing, communications, and administrative tasks.
+ Presents summer project to peers and COLSA employees in a conference-style format at the end of the summer.

Required SkillsRequired Experience
+ Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
+ Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Videography, Writing, Business, or related major/area of focus
+ Must be willing and able to relocate to Huntsville, AL at his/her own expense for duration of internship
+ May allow for students enrolled in a school’s Co-Op Program for academic credit
+ Working knowledge of desktop applications including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
+ Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and/or Canva
+ Basic video editing skills
+ US Citizenship required. Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check prior to start date.

+ A passion for socializing/getting to know new people
