Are you a creative, passionate, and results-driven student interested in community outreach and event planning? The AARP State and Community Engagement team is looking for you! This internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in content creation, digital design, and communication strategies across various platforms, including social media, web, email, video, and internal/executive communications. You will have an opportunity to work as part of a team that supports the mission of AARP and collaborate with offices across the nation. If you have a passion for storytelling and a basic understanding of essential tools, we’d love to hear from you! This paid internship has an anticipated start date of Spring 2025, with an option to continue throughout the year. Responsibilities Assist AARP state offices in creating engaging content for social media platforms, including graphics, videos, and posts Support state office website updates and help maintain a consistent and user-friendly experience Contribute to email marketing campaigns by designing templates, writing content, and collecting results for analysis Help produce and edit digital videos for promotional and informational use Assist in drafting and editing executive and internal communications, such as memos, announcements, and newsletters Collaborate with team members to brainstorm new ideas and ensure content aligns with brand guidelines Perform other tasks as needed to support communication efforts Qualifications Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university as rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or postdoctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship Basic proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) Familiarity with social media platforms and scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprinklr) Understanding of website management tools (e.g., Brightspot, WordPress) is a plus Experience with video editing software (e.g., iMovie, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro) preferred Strong written and verbal communication skills A creative mindset with attention to detail Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position at this time. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories. Compensation and Benefits The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
