Primary Position Purpose:
The Communications Manager is responsible for creating highly engaging and accurate content to be distributed across various mediums and to distinct audiences. This individual plays an important role within the Brand Communications team, serving as lead on all internal and external facing written content across the enterprise, supporting various business partners and teams. The Communications Manager can take often complex information and distill it into a creative narrative and/or campaign. This position participates in kickoff meetings and brainstorms, helps identify interesting topics, writes compelling short- and long-form copy, and partners closely with colleagues and key stakeholders to obtain essential information, reviews, and approvals. The Communications Manager is responsible for ensuring that written messaging across all platforms is aligned with brand voice and appropriate for a publicly traded company. This individual is highly creative, innovative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that often requires quick turnarounds.
Position Functions:
· Writes copy for mediums that include but are not limited to corporate website, company intranet, driver facing tech channels, social media, corporate newsroom/research, conferences and events, video scripts, sales collateral, emails, newsletters, home mailers, blog, etc.· Plans and writes content for weekly internal newsletter, updates to websites, sales collateral, and support materials for key business partners.· Works closely with business and Marketing Director in developing strategy for deliverables and developing content based on that strategy.· Works with Graphic Designer and other external resources (web developer and videographer) to assure we have appropriate resources to support needs.· Aligns closely with Marketing Director to approve and schedule communications requests.· Key participant in strategy sessions, campaign planning, and creative kickoff meetings and helps identify unique, compelling narratives.· Writes copy in different tones of voice (depending on the audience) that adheres to the company’s style and brand voice guidelines. Audiences include but are not limited to corporate team members, shops/mechanics, professional truck drivers, customers, news media, and investors/analysts.· Works in a collaborative environment to identify engaging topics for potential communications, propose copy concepts, presents underlying strategic thinking to internal team, consults with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and writes compelling final products.· Balances many projects at once and contributes to multiple aspects of the company’s communications mix.· Works closely with department leadership and other corporate senior leadership to interpret creative direction and overall narrative and adapts points from creative briefs into persuasive and compelling copy.· Produces high-quality, error-free content with keen attention-to-detail.· Studies the objectives, policies, and needs of the company to develop copy that influences the audience’s opinion.· Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with cross-functional teams, SMEs, and company leadership.· Completes all tasks within expected deadlines.· Performs other related duties and assignments as required.· Collaborate in-person with all levels of the organization to harness collective intelligence of the workforce.· Attend all in-person meetings and trainings on recent developments, goals, and objectives. Participate in such discussions by offering input and advice.· Regularly engage remotely and in-person with customers and potential customers to establish rapport, open communication, and expectations.· Build credibility and trust among managed employees by providing prompt and constructive feedback in office when observing such need.· Lead and facilitate regularly scheduled meetings and in-person trainings that harmonize collaboration internal to the department and external to other SBUs.· Determine best practices and reinforce constructive and positive feedback through face-to-face interactions with employees on the floor in real time.
