Role: Communications Manager

The Communications Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering strategic communication initiatives that enhance Schroders' corporate reputation. This individual will be responsible for developing impactful messaging, managing internal and external communications, and ensuring consistency across all communication channels. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and various departments to promote Schroders' values and objectives while engaging stakeholders effectively.

The base
We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We're close to our clients, in the heart of the UK's financial centre. And we have everything we need to work flexibly.
The team
You will initially be reporting into the Global Head of Communications to begin with. This is a newly created role which is hybrid across internal and external communications. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business, in the UK and beyond, working on communications projects which then need co-ordinating across both the media and internal communications teams. [You will then move to report into the Strategic Communications Lead who is currently seconded to help with Transformation Communications].
What you’ll do
Strategic Communication Development:
Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies aligned with Schroders' business goals and corporate identity.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders at a senior level to define key messages and ensure alignment with organisational objectives.
Content Creation:
Write, edit, and produce high-quality content for a range of platforms, including press releases, speeches, articles, internal newsletters, and social media.
Oversee the production of multimedia content, ensuring it is engaging, clear, and on-brand.
Media Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international media outlets.
Prepare and coordinate media kits, press releases, and responses to media inquiries.
Monitor media coverage and respond to issues or emerging trends that could impact the organisation's reputation.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including HR, Marketing, and Compliance, to develop messaging that supports company-wide initiatives.
Manage communication plans for major company events, product launches, or organisational changes.
Crisis Communication:
Develop and execute crisis communication strategies in partnership with the crisis management team.
Be prepared to respond quickly and effectively to issues that affect the organisation's reputation.
Performance Measurement:
Track and analyse the effectiveness of communication initiatives through metrics and feedback.
Adjust strategies based on data-driven insights to improve future communications.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 experience in corporate communications or public relations, preferably within the financial services industry.
Proven track record of developing and implementing successful communication strategies.
Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
Experience with digital communication tools and social media platforms.
You must be very organised and have demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across various teams.
The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will help
Proficient in stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
Strong analytical skills to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies.
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
Familiarity with corporate governance and regulatory requirements affecting communications in the financial sector.
