Communications Manager - Commercial Banking

We are seeking an experienced communications professional to lead communications for HSBC’s Commercial Banking (CMB) division in the US, with an additional focus on innovation banking. As a key representative of the Global Communications function, this role will be pivotal in shaping HSBC’s public presence by crafting and executing media strategies that enhance our reputation and align with business priorities. Reporting to the Head of Commercial Banking Communications US, the role involves collaboration with global and regional teams to drive media relations efforts and communicate with all stakeholders, internally and externally, promote HSBC’s leadership in key areas, raise brand awareness and drive business consideration.

As our Communications Manager - Commercial Banking you will:

Drive Media Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with priority media to secure top-tier coverage for HSBC’s Commercial Banking initiatives.Shape Reputation through Thought Leadership: Develop and promote thought leadership pieces, press releases, social media content, and external narratives that reinforce HSBC’s leadership in commercial banking, innovation banking and global financial themes.Proactive and Reactive Issue Management: Identify emerging issues early by building strong stakeholder relationships, managing media inquiries, and mitigating risks proactively.Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with global and regional communications and marketing teams to align external messaging with business objectives.Promote Global Campaigns Locally: Adapt and localize global communications campaigns to highlight HSBC’s strategic priorities within the US market.Optimize Impact with Metrics: Leverage media monitoring tools and analytics to track performance, guide strategy adjustments, and maximize the effectiveness of communications efforts.

For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $82,600 and $123,900.

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Experience: 7 years in communications with a focus on, media relations, or public relations, preferably within financial services or banking.Media Relations Expertise: Proven ability to cultivate relationships with top-tier media and secure impactful coverage.Strategic Communication Skills: Strong capability in crafting narratives and messaging that align with business objectives and promote thought leadership.Crisis Communications Experience: Expertise in managing issues and navigating media inquiries to protect the organization’s reputation.Content Development: Skilled in developing press releases, op-eds, thought leadership articles, and other external communications materials.Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to work effectively within a matrixed environment, partnering with global and regional teams.Governance and Compliance: Familiarity with media relations governance frameworks and strict adherence to corporate policies.Analytical Skills: Experience using media metrics to assess impact and optimize communications strategies.
