A Brief Overview
Responsible for defining the Line of Business (LOB’s) external communications and community strategic planning by creating and supervising content creation and the delivery of effective communications plans for the LOB’s and community initiatives. Work closely with organization partners to develop effective external communications plans and programs, including the LOB’s and community event coordination. Make sure the external communications processes support LOB’s and the community while supervising the deployment of cohesive plans through the appropriate external channels. Also, responsible for enhancing the LOB's external communications capabilities by supervising the external editing copy management, which includes improving communications, educating the external communications team on best practices, identifying ways to improve the flow of communications.
What you’ll do
· External Communication
· Prepares and executes comprehensive and strategic communications plans; develops and delivers the evolving communications strategy of the LOB’s and tracks KPIs and effectiveness metrics.
· Create and implement public relations initiatives to support the Corporate Strategic Plan in alignment with marketing and institutional efforts, including external events such as press conferences, product launchings, branch openings, stockholder’s meetings, client events (social and educational), and community events.
· Implements well-written communication strategies in Spanish and English and promotes the observance of the standards for effective communication, such as including all relevant information clearly and concisely within an appropriate timeframe. Edits and rewrites texts/copies to improve clarity and readability. Also proofreads texts, corrects spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors in other communications, and is responsible for interpreting creative direction and technical information and turning them into persuasive and well-written copy concepts in Spanish and English.
· Maintains excellent media relations to maximize positive news coverage providing reporters with interesting news angles and using creativity to promote awareness of the bank and its products/services.
· Monitors media, government, and the business community to identify possible issues affecting the Bank’s reputation.
· Manages editorial meetings with the Communications and Marketing writing teams to discuss stories, generate story ideas for external channels, share best practices, and establish communications calendars.
· Actively participate in corporate committees to ensure that key messages impacting employees are communicated clearly and on time.
· Manages assigned budget, establishes measurable objectives, and constantly monitors results to adjust plans when necessary.
· Provide corporate and external communications support to ECR and Florida regions when needed.
· Works closely with the Marketing team to ensure all business line communications incorporate the customer experience approach and are properly aligned with the corporate guidelines and business objectives.
· Community
· Develop and supervise a community strategy that aligns with the ESG program of the Corporation.
· Supervise the management of sponsorships and community donations.
· Create and supervise the implementation of public relations initiatives to support the Community Plan in alignment with communications, marketing, and institutional efforts, including external events.
· Oversee the community events coordination and execution.
· Builds and maintains relationships with the company’s stakeholders.
· Administrative
· Complies with regulatory and administrative processes, such as Vendor Management, while supervising and executing functions.
· Manages budget allocation and expense control for external communications and community programs.
· Assists the Corporate Communications & Marketing Director and the Corporate Communications Manager on special projects or events, as requested.
· Supports the development of special projects as requested by Communications and LOB’s Team.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has direct supervisory responsibilities over the following positions: (1) External Communications Officer, (1) External Communication Officer (Community)

· Language - Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. What You’ll Need to Succeed
· Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, communications, or business administration and at least eight to ten years of related experience in supervision, coordination and planning of corporate communications and/or marketing materials, including art development, communications, and advertising.
· Experience in product management is a plus.
· Must have previous managerial experience in these areas.
· Excellent coordination skills in the planning of events and mass communication efforts.
· Previous experience dealing with the media and non-profit organizations.
· Excellent written and communication skills in English/Spanish, Oral/Written.
