The Rolls-Royce Submarines business is growing and we need a Communications Manager that can support that growth by telling our story and engaging our people. From managing the media and writing impactful press releases, to developing internal employee channels and supporting on crisis communications, this is a role that calls on all communication disciplines. Reporting into the Head of Marketing & Communications, you will manage a team of talented Communications Leads, while also developing and delivering communication strategies of your own. Collaborating across the Submarines Enterprise and across the Ministry of Defence, this is a chance to do something that really matters – helping protect the UK for decades to come. Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location.  It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

What you will be doing

This is the ideal role for a proven communications expert with the chance to:

Oversee all internal and external communications, ensuring messaging is consistent and engagingManage media relationships, prepare spokespeople and generate proactive press releases in a high-profile environmentDevelop and implement effective communication strategies that build stakeholder loyalty and advocacyBring innovation, creativity and determination to developing new channels and content, both internally and externallyManage, support and develop a team of talented Communication Leads

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong storytelling, message and channel development abilities.Media relations expertise and familiarity with the media landscape - building and maintaining relationships with journalists and other key stakeholders.A track-record for collaboration and delivery across different stakeholder groups

Desirable Skills/Experience:

A track record of managing a successful and motivated communications teamExperience of managing media in a high-profile environment for a globally recognisable brandExisting SC-Clearance preferredUnderstanding of the Defence industry and strong existing relationships with national/trade/local media in Defence

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines Business an individual has to hold Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not currently already have this in place.

Due to the nature of work the Business conducts and the protection of certain assets a person has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non ITAR country.
