Job Summary:

The Communications and Marketing Manager will lead the development and execution of strategic marketing and communication initiatives to enhance the Minnesota Star Tribune’s brand presence, engage audiences, and drive top of funnel audience growth. This role will involve crafting compelling narratives, developing and executing strategic PR and media relations plans, and managing simultaneous marketing campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to promote the Minnesota Star Tribune and our journalists. Manage media relations, proactively promoting positive coverage of the Minnesota Star Tribune and our journalists. Collaborate with editorial, sales, events and creative teams to align marketing efforts with overall business objectives. Analyze market trends and audience insights to inform marketing strategies and improve audience engagement. Work with events team to promote engagement and brand visibility. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing and communications campaigns, making data-driven recommendations for improvements. Maintain relationships with external vendors, partners, and influencers to enhance brand outreach. Manage company website.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field. 5+ years of experience in communications, marketing, or a related role. Strong writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail. Media relations savvy with extensive experience researching reporters, pitching stories and landing coverage. Proficiency in digital marketing tools, platforms, and analytics software. Innovative mindset with the ability to think strategically and creatively. Understanding of the media landscape and current industry trends. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate concepts and ideas. Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality, with a keen eye for design aesthetics and brand consistency. Creative problem-solving skills and a passion for staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies. Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, preferably in a marketing or advertising agency setting.

Salary/Wage Range

$90,000 - $115,000 / year

Compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
