JOB SUMMARY

The Communications Specialist is a valued member of the Corporate Affairs (CA) Team at POET. Each member of the CA Team plays a key role in how team members, investors and external stakeholders, policy leaders and the general public perceive POET.

 

The Communications Specialist will assist with POET internal and external communications activities including various corporate, division and department communications, advertising, graphic design and promotion projects. The ideal candidate will be organized, creative and have a knack for understanding new areas of the business.

 

A candidate for this position must be able to work in a varied, fast-paced environment. The Communications Specialist reports to the Communications Manager.

 

DURING A TYPICAL DAY:

Collaborate with the Corporate Affairs team to support and execute communications strategies for internal and external audiences. Communicate with leaders and team members at POET’s bioprocessing locations and other divisions, departments and groups to identify and assist with communications, advertising, event and promotion needs.Develop high-quality advertisements, brochures, graphics, presentations and other marketing and communications materials for various divisions, departments, locations and products. Coordinate communications projects with internal resources and outside vendors for the development and production of promotional print materials, advertising, web and video projects and other collateral. Ensure all communications materials are consistent and properly align with the POET brand and visual design standards.Plan and organize events including fairs, parades, ground breakings, grand openings, meetings, tradeshows, booths, conferences, speaking engagements and similar activities. Attend events and work at tradeshows and booths, as needed. Update and maintain company booth components, banner stands and associated tradeshow graphics.Identify opportunities, support requests and coordinate sponsorship activities.Assist with POET’s internal communications activities; create and approve engaging content for various internal websites, apps, videos, emails, newsletters and similar.Assist with management, design and content development for various other internal and external communications activities, as needed.Since we’re all about teamwork and getting the job done, your skill may be put to a lot of other uses!  

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE 

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design or a related field is required.At least three years of relevant experience.Demonstrated ability to generate creative, well-designed content.Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator required,You have the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and manage projects independently.You are resourceful in solving problems.You have excellent organizational, attention to detail, and collaboration skills as well as the ability to embrace change.You communicate effectively in writing and in person.
