Communications Specialist

Under the direction of the Senior Public Relations & Marketing Communications Manager, this position owns the internal communication workflows and distributions. This role is responsible for developing compelling communications campaigns, then crafting, editing and distributing internal communications through multiple channels. All content should be stylized to inform and engage the appropriate audience, while maintaining brand voice, ensuring accurate information and following communications guidelines. This role will develop content campaigns and calendars for internal communications including announcements, newsletters, intranet homepage, special event communications and other internal and external communications needs. They track metrics and trends, propose improvements and collaborate to drive the execution of internal communications strategy for the company.  They will also assist in external communication development, editing and distribution as needed. This role operates cross-functionally with various departments and key stakeholders to gather information and stay up-to-date on internal happenings that require communications support. This role also assists in the development and delivery of presentations and assists in scheduling meetings for various company events. This person in this role must be able to manage multiple requests and tasks simultaneously while paying close attention to detail to ensure all messaging is consistent and in alignment with marketing and communications strategy, as well as company branding, mission, vision and values. This position handles sensitive information and must be able to maintain confidentiality. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead content creation and distribution through various channels, including newsletters, intranet and email platforms. Promote employee engagement through communication.  Maintain alignment with branding, tone and marketing & company goals. Propose strategies to continuously improve internal communication effectiveness. Collaborate with marketing team and other departments to develop planned and ad-hoc communications campaigns  Coordinate and track workflows and approvals of communication materials. Develop and maintain internal communication campaigns and content calendars to align with overarching communications strategy and goals.  Ensure communication campaigns are on-track, on-time and cohesive with messaging goals. Monitor feedback and metrics to track effectiveness of communications.  Manage and maintain the marketing content on the intranet to ensure content is up-to-date, relevant, and accessible. Streamline communications internally. Organize and coordinate company-wide events, town halls and meetings to facilitate open communication. Assist in preparing and presenting slides for town hall presentations & meetings. Assist in other communications related activities as needed to support marketing department projects and business objectives.

Education and Experience:
 

Level of Formal Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Area of Study: Communications, Journalism, Public Relations Minimum Years of Experience: 2 Type of Experience: Communications, Journalism or Public Relations Technical Competencies & Information Systems: Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and content management systems (CMS) Skills & Abilities: Excellent written & verbal communication skills, Editing, Branding Strong organizational and project management abilities Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Experience with content management systems (CMS) and internal communication tools preferred Knowledge of best practices in internal communications and employee engagement strategies AP-style proficiency preferred Personal Attributes & Other/Preferred: Collaborative, positive attitude, works well in fast-paced environment, experienced in remote work environment
