This position is responsible for writing and editing materials such as news releases and feature stories for the college and its departments as well content for the college website and social media channels. Provides editing skills to ensure proper grammar, clarity, organization, style and consistent formatting for both large and small print and electronic pieces. Writes for various internal and external audiences utilizing messages that are consistent with the college’s and the university's strategic goals and brand. What you need to know Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience. Qualifications Required Education and Experience + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience + Two years of communications and/or marketing experience Preferred Qualifications + Three years of professional writing experience in higher education Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Proficient knowledge of writing and when to use a preferred style for various audiences and for specific outlets + Understanding of AP style + Ability to edit for grammar, clarity, organization, style and consistency + Strong verbal communication skills + Ability to multitask and work collaboratively with others + Demonstrated ability working under deadlines. Knowledge of social media analytics ResponsibilitiesSOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATION: + Develops and writes compelling content for social media posts to reach target audiences utilizing photography, video and graphics, as appropriate + responsible for writing and editing materials such as news releases and feature stories for the college and its departments as well content for the college website and social media channels + Provides editing skills to ensure proper grammar, clarity, organization, style, and consistent formatting for both large and small print and electronic pieces + Writes for various internal and external audiences utilizing messages that are consistent with the college’s and the university's strategic goals and brand + Monitors and responds to online conversations + Works with other communications team members to develop graphics and photography for social media, including event coverage and promotion as needed + Tracks and analyzes the quality and quantity of college’s social media coverage to ensure efforts are successful and reflective of strategic needs + Coordinates with members of each department to ensure proper social media coverage across all channels NEWS COVERAGE: + Develops materials such as news releases and features stories for the college and its departments to publicize via the college website, social media and various media outlets + Assists with various copy for other print or electronic communications including but not limited to websites, brochures, magazines, presentations and reports EDITORIAL PLANNING: + Works with the communications coordinator + Assists in developing the college’s editorial calendar for news and social media to align with and promote the teaching, research, and service activities of the college and department + Works with other members of the communications staff to develop supporting materials that are brand consistent, as needed Who we are The Department of Educational Administration and Human Resource Development (EAHR) develops educational leaders and improves practice through teaching, research and service in the areas of public school administration, human resource development, higher education administration, adult education and student affairs administration.
