Unified Communications Technician/NetOps Specialist
The Unified Communications Technician/NetOps Specialist is responsible for providing specialized system engineering services and operational support for communication systems, including data, voice, and video applications. This role involves the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of VoIP/VoSIP technology, utilizing industry best practices and tools such as Call Manager and Unified Communications systems. The Technician/NetOps Specialist also provides expert technical support for VoIP networks, system upgrades, and equipment procurement while ensuring compliance with DOD/Federal acquisition processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide O&M support for new, existing, and future VoIP/VoSIP systems, including Call Manager and Avaya Session Border Controller (SBC) services.Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise network devices, including layer 2 and 3 switches, routers, and in-line encryption devices.Manage and maintain Call Managers, Gatekeepers, and Gateway equipment across networks, ensuring optimal performance and capacity for VoIP traffic.Conduct analysis of network characteristics, document communication system requirements, and develop integration and transition plans.Perform advanced planning and special studies related to communication systems interface, frequency threats, signal processing, and COMSEC key management.Inspect communication facilities, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and design alternative architectures to address system shortcomings.Develop and maintain circuit-level VoIP diagrams, provide trend analysis, and recommend solutions to prevent future system degradations.Ensure cybersecurity compliance by providing accurate VoIP diagrams and supporting NetOps capabilities to manage VoIP/VoSIP functions.
Qualifications:
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in system engineering services for communication systems, with a focus on data, voice, and video applications.Cisco Certified Network Professional - Voice (CCNP - Voice) or Cisco Certified Specialist certifications (Collaboration Core, Call Control & Mobility) are desired.Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field is desired.Familiarity with DOD/Federal system acquisition management processes and methodologies.Appropriate security clearance and certifications in IA, CE, and IT levels as required by the Installation task order DD 254.
