Communications Technician
Maintain phone, nurse call systems and other low voltage systems. Install and relocate. Trouble shoot and terminate telephone, computer, modem, TV, security and public address systems. Data cabling. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director. Work with contractors to insure proper installation of communication equipment. Process telephone service change requests and program all new extensions. Implements and manages emergency switchboard and telephone repair. Maintains supplies and inventories at acceptable levels. Install and maintain televisions. Maintain biomedical data cabling systems. Assist with the installation of all new communication equipment. Maintain Information Technology data ports. Troubleshoot Nurse Call System. Maintain overhead paging system. Maintain security cameras, surveillance and alarm systems. Maintain, troubleshoot and repair various low voltage systems. High School diploma or GED is required. Two years telecommunication experience. Two years telecommunications experience. + Knowledge of installation and trouble shooting on various types of cabling. Knowledge of PBX systems; codes and regulations as related to telecommunications. Knowledge of proper fire stopping procedures. Knowledge of proper cross connect procedures. Ability to work independently without constant supervision. Must possess problem solving abilities. Ability to interpret instructions and schematics. Knowledge of and use of safe work practices. Available for call. Continued Education on current technology.
