Job Description
The NYC Department of Probation (DOP) is seeking a passionate and organized Community Assistant to join the Neighborhood Opportunity Network (NeON) Photography Program. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support and inspire community members through creative initiatives, mentorship, and program coordination.
As a Community Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the NeON Photography Program by assisting with program coordination, mentoring participants, and contributing to the program's growth. You will also have opportunities to engage in event management, curriculum support, and community outreach to ensure the programs' success.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Support
Assist in organizing classes, photowalks, field trips, and community events that align with program goals.
Provide hands-on support during photography sessions, ensuring an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
Collaborate with instructors to implement curriculum updates and new class structures.
Mentorship
Act as a mentor for students, offering guidance on photography techniques and personal development.
Foster a supportive atmosphere that encourages creativity and self- expression.
Build strong relationships with students to understand their goals and provide tailored support.
Event Management
Support the planning and execution of program events, including exhibitions and community showcases.
Assist in coordinating logistics for events such as photography panels or other public engagements.
Community Engagement
Serve as a liaison between the NeON Photography Program and community stakeholders.
Promote program activities through outreach efforts to engage local residents and organizations.

Qualifications
1. There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position. However, the ability to understand and carry out simple instructions is required.
2. Candidates must be able to understand and be understood in English.
