As the Crisis Counselor you will be on the frontlines delivering crisis intervention at family homes', schools, hospitals, and throughout the community within San Francisco and up to a 90 mile radius—making a real impact where it matters most. This role offers a diverse set of responsibilities, from participating in treatment reviews and IEP meetings to helping families navigate therapy appointments, court hearings, and more.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Seneca's San Francisco Hub team strives to provide care and resources to families involved in the child welfare system and foster care services. Our goal is to strengthen permanency for children in their current placement, support them through transitions, and address their mental health and behavioral needs. The program works with youth of ages 0 - 21 who are referred from child welfare, San Francisco’s Department of Public Health Child Crisis program and the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU), and youth enrolled in San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD).ABOUT SENECA

Responsibilities Provide crisis management and intervention for youth referred by, but not limited to, the San Francisco child welfare system, San Francisco’s Department of Public Health, SFUSD, and the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU)Complete risk assessments, crisis counseling, creation of behavioral plans and safety plansParticipate in all treatment reviews, family team meetings and program staff meetingsComplete documentation identified by supervisor in a timely and satisfactory mannerCollaborate on a regular basis with team members including but not limited to: Child Welfare Workers, caregivers, school staff, therapists, and case managers.Participate in weekly individual supervision and group supervision to expand skills and receive ongoing coaching and supportMaintain professional behavior at all times, appropriately representing Seneca’s mission and philosophy QualificationsRequired:
Education/Experience Requirements:Bachelor’s degree ORAssociate’s degree or equivalent + 1 year of applicable experience ORHigh School Diploma/GED + 2 years of applicable experienceApplicable experience can include paid or unpaid experience working with youth or families or working in the social services field.Strong communication skills & flexibilityBe part of a rotating emergency pager system, scheduled with supervisor ahead of timeMust be at least 21 years of ageOwn vehicle, Valid California driver's license and insurability with Seneca's automobile policyTB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirementsMust show proof of COVID-19 vaccinationPreferred:
