COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT NAVIGATOR
The Community Empolyment Navigator for Goodwill Southeast Georgia will support individuals in their career and employment goals by providing career coaching, workforce development, and resources directly in the community. This role requires collaboration with employers and community agencies to identify and address barriers to employment while empowering clients to achieve sustainable career paths. To that end, we believe Goodwill’s strength lies in the diversity of those we employ, educate, and serve. + Competitive weekly pay + Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and retirement plans + Generous paid time off (PTO) and holidays + Associate shopping discount + Celebratory activities + Career advancement opportunities + Free training and development programs Your Typical Day: Employer Engagement + Collaborate with the Business Engagement Workforce Specialist to plan and execute career-related activities and events such as career fairs, workshops, and employer meet-and-greets. + Research and identify career pathways aligned with client interests and share insights with the Business Engagement Specialist to inform employer engagement strategies. + Stay current with labor market trends, recruiting practices, and job search strategies to better serve clients. Community Engagement + Develop and nurture relationships with local community agencies to identify resources that assist clients in overcoming barriers such as housing, food insecurity, and medical needs. + Maintain an up-to-date resource manual that outlines community resources available to clients for barrier removal and support services. + Actively participate in community events to strengthen partnerships and promote Goodwill services. Career Pathing and Development Opportunities + Ensure accurate skills assessments on clients to help determine career interests for optimum placements that meet the needs of both participants and employers. + Assist with identifying critical knowledge and/or skill gaps during career coaching sessions and help clients with obtaining the necessary training to overcome the skills gap. + Assist clients with registering for post-secondary opportunities to gain credentials. + Conduct labor market research on career interests to provide clients with a career pathway. + Research high demand credential programs within the local technical colleges. + Create individual development educational/employment plans for clients interested in obtaining a credential or upward mobility within their employment field. + Provide person-centered planning services in a manner that maximizes the attainment of goals leading to increased self-sufficiency. + Responsible for placing clients enrolled in Goodwill’s Opportunity Center services into jobs within the community. + Monitor job openings and keep abreast of labor market trends. + Provide job placement and retention services by connecting clients with employers and job opportunities. + Collaborate with Mission Services leadership to address barriers identified during career coaching sessions that may hinder a client from achieving their career goals. Job Readiness Preparation + Assist clients with resume development show casing past work experience. + Assist clients with job search skills, completing job applications, and connecting with area employers to fill open positions. + Recommend additional educational/training to clients that will enhance their career goals. + Provided job readiness training opportunities to clients to include interviewing techniques that will help strengthen employment outcomes. + Ensure clients employment documents and skills are presentable prior to introducing them to an employer. + Facilitate job readiness trainings to ensure individuals seeking services are prepared to enter the labor market. Outcome Goals + Accomplishes organization mission by completing related assignments as needed. + Serves as backup to the Business Engagement Workforce Specialist as needed. + Meet/exceed the key performance indicators monthly of individuals served, trained and placed. + Generate weekly, and monthly reports outlining individuals served in the community needs for barrier removal. + Attend community events that will promote Goodwill’s services. What You’ll Need: + Minimum Associates Degree with 3-5 years of previous work experience in a career services related field, or any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position. + Preferred Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role. + Strong customer service skills. + Previous staffing experience preferred. + Knowledge of job readiness skills and hiring practices. + Flexibility with schedule and ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. + Must possess a valid driver's license, own valid insurance, and independent transportation. + Must be willing to travel. This position requires travel between locations, off-site meetings and events as needed. + Ability to work efficiently with people in a facilitating manner with an open mind and ability to react as such in situations and interactions with clients and other stakeholders. + Ability to work as part of a team and relate effectively with other Goodwill staff members, community, employers, and clients, and representatives of other community service providers. + Flexibility and the willingness to learn new procedures and policies to meet the changing needs and goals of the department, organization, and most importantly the individuals served. + Must be able to adhere to all confidentiality policies, procedures, and practices including HIPAA regulations. + Ability to work evenings and weekends to meet employer and event needs when applicable. + Periodic travel through-out assigned territory. + Ability to lift 20 pounds on a regular basis.
