Community-Engaged Research Partnership Specialist
Job Description: The Community-Engaged Research Partnership Specialist will be based at the Swearer Center for Public Service (http://www.brown.edu/academics/college/swearer/) and will be responsible for stewarding partnerships, outreach, and community engagement activities focused primarily on local collaborative research initiatives. The position will support research within the Division of Biology and Medicine (Bio-Med) (http://biomedical.brown.edu/) and the Institute at Brown University for Environment and Society (IBES) (http://ibes.brown.edu/) , with specific focus on advancing Brown’s Equitable Climate Futures (ECF) initiative as well as the Brown Health Community Engaged Translational Research Core (BH-CEnTRC). The position will be responsible for stewarding relationships and potential collaborative projects with a variety of community-based stakeholders including nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations, groups, and institutions, public sector institutions, community leaders and, in some cases, private sector and industry partners. The role is designed to be a part of a strengthened effective community engagement infrastructure at Brown, as called for inBrown’s recently launched community engagement agenda (http://president.brown.edu/sites/default/files/reports/Community\_Engagement\_Agenda-2024\_FNL-web.pdf) . It is a two-year term position which may be renewed, dependent on program needs and funding. Qualifications Education + Required: Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience + Required: 3-5 years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience that includes community-engaged research, working collaboratively and effectively with partners within higher education and in the public and non-profit sectors. Job Competencies + Interest and knowledge of health and/or environmental issues, and ability to scope related collaborative research projects with stakeholders in Rhode Island. + Strong skills in management, programmatic structure and process, documentation and assessment. + Collaborative work style, strong team player, inclusiveness and flexibility; ability to build collaborations with diverse communities. + Track record of execution and change orientation: open-mindedness; focus on learning, assessment, constant improvement, and accountability; attention to detail. + Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to generate enthusiasm among faculty, other university colleagues and practitioners in the field. + Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment. + Ability to work evening and weekend events/activities, including some holidays.
