USAID’s Momentum Country and Global Leadership (MCGL) award is a USAID-funded global award, that works in tandem with country governments and local non-governmental organizations to provide targeted technical and capacity strengthening assistance and contribute to the global technical leadership and policy dialogue on improving measurable outcomes for maternal, reproductive, newborn and child health, and voluntary family planning. MCGL in Jordan seeks a Community Engagement Field Officer for a USAID family planning program in Jordan. The MCGL Jordan program will provide support to the USAID/Jordan-funded Government to Government Partnership for Health in Family Planning (PHFP) program, led by the Ministry of Health (MOH), with aims to promote and provide quality family planning services to the population of Jordan.
The USAID-funded MCGL Jordan Activity aims to strengthen the Ministry of Health's (MOH) stewardship role to enhance family planning practices in Jordan. Community Engagement, a key component of this project, supports efforts to increase demand for voluntary family planning services through health promotion, awareness-raising, and community mobilization. We are seeking a motivated Community Engagement Field Officer to implement these activities primarily at the community health committee (CHC) level affiliated with MOH health centers. This role will provide on-the-ground support and coordination, ensuring that community engagement activities align with broader program goals, while offering limited support at the Health Directorate (HD) level as needed.
Responsibilities Conduct field visits to newly established CHCs across the 14 health directorates, providing ongoing technical assistance to ensure they are effectively set up and functional.Support CHCs in selected health centers to enhance their operational capabilities and ensure their activities align with community health needs.Collaborate with community health committees to actively involve local communities in health promotion and voluntary family planning initiatives.Facilitate collaboration among CHCs, promoting cross-learning, best practices, and shared solutions to strengthen their impact.Offer guidance and limited support to the Health Directorates to ensure alignment between community-level activities and directorate strategies.Train and empower selected community members as health champions, providing them with resources to lead health education sessions and engage in community health promotion activities.Coordinate with the MCGL Jordan Social and Behaviour Change Advisor, Community Engagement specialist and other technical advisors to maintain consistency in community engagement efforts.Collect and report data on the effectiveness of community engagement strategies, providing recommendations for improvements.Represent MCGL Jordan in community-based meetings and contribute to field-level reports on community engagement activities.Perform other responsibilities as requested by the supervisor. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in public health, Social Sciences, Communication, or a related field.Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in community engagement, health promotion, or similar roles, preferably with a focus on family planning and reproductive health at the community level.Experience working with community health systems, governmental or non-governmental organizations, and grassroots-level organizations.Understanding of the health sector in Jordan, particularly community health and family planning efforts.Ability to implement community health interventions and work collaboratively with community teams and stakeholders.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Fluency in Arabic is required; proficiency in English is preferred.Work Environment:
This position involves significant field-based work across various sites in Jordan. Occasional overnight stays may be required based on site locations and project needs.
