USAID’s Momentum Country and Global Leadership (MCGL) award is a USAID-funded global award, that works in tandem with country governments and local non-governmental organizations to provide targeted technical and capacity strengthening assistance and contribute to the global technical leadership and policy dialogue on improving measurable outcomes for maternal, reproductive, newborn and child health, and voluntary family planning. The MCGL Jordan program will provide support to the USAID/Jordan-funded Government to Government Partnership for Health in Family Planning (PHFP) program, led by the Ministry of Health (MOH), with aims to promote and provide quality family planning services to the population of Jordan.
The USAID-funded MCGL Jordan Activity aims to strengthen the stewardship role of the Ministry of Health (MOH) to enhance family planning practices in Jordan. An integral component of this project is Community Engagement, which supports demand creation efforts and increases the demand for voluntary family planning services. We are seeking a dedicated Community Engagement Specialist to support these initiatives, focusing on health promotion, awareness raising, community mobilization, and social behavior change. This position will collaborate closely with the MOH, community health committees, and other technical advisors to align community engagement efforts with the overarching goals of the MCGL Jordan.
Responsibilities Implement strategies and workplans for health promotion and community mobilization that align with the goals of MCGL Jordan.Collaborate with the MOH Health Communication and Awareness Directorate to enhance community engagement initiatives.Work closely with MOH staff at the Health Affairs Directorates to support ongoing health promotion and community mobilization efforts.Strengthen the capacities of Community Health Committees in the catchment areas of MOH health centers, supporting their efforts to target local communities effectively.Coordinate with the MCGL Jordan Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Advisor and other technical advisors to ensure a cohesive approach to community engagement across MCGL Jordan Activity.Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community engagement strategies and activities, making data-driven recommendations for improvement.Represent MCGL Jordan in stakeholder meetings and contribute to the development of Activity reports and presentations as required. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in public health, Social Sciences, Communication, or related field. A master’s degree is preferred.Minimum of 6+ years of professional experience in community engagement, health promotion, or related fields, with a focus on family planning and reproductive health.Experience providing supervision to a technical team Demonstrated experience working with governmental health systems, non-governmental organizations, and community-based organizations.Strong understanding of the health sector in Jordan, particularly in community health and family planning.Proven ability to design and implement effective public health interventions and to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.Fluency in Arabic and English is required.
Work Environment:
This position involves a mix of office and field-based work at various sites. Occasional overnight stays may be required.
