Here’s what you’d do:

The Community Garden Manager (CGM) serves as the primary contact for BrightView’s clients and employees. The CGM builds and sustains long-term relationships that focus on the client and their employees, while providing oversight for a large and robust community garden program. The CGM supervises up to 300 of the client’s employees as part of their community garden program and teaches hands on organic horticulture practices while engaging with the client through educational programming and workshops.  

You’d be responsible for:

Managing an organic community garden program that encompasses over 100 garden beds with over 250 active gardeners.Weekly communication with each of the community garden sites via email or group chats.Develop and deliver garden related educational materials/workshops.Maintain the community garden sites to pristine standards.Lead and facilitate the resolution of client issues or concerns in the gardens. Proactively assist in resolving issues with customer service when neededEngage with the client and public in the garden spacesHelp support other branch programs and initiatives when necessaryCollaborate with Account Managers for ancillary sales opportunities to enhance garden spacesCommunicate with, counsel, train, discipline, review, and develop growth plans for team members.Hands-on training and support of gardeners, including proper operation of equipment, pruning techniques, safety, and quality standards Focus on safety and monitor safety records. Participate in safety meetings

You might be a good fit if you have:

Experience and knowledge working in vegetable and fruit tree gardensWell versed California native plants.Clear and direct communication with the client and their employees regarding garden related topics.Familiar with diagnosing outdoor pest issues and implementing IPM programs.Experience with up-to-date horticultural practices and tools.Must be well organizedAbility to coach and develop teamsComputer skills required Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in written formAt least one year of supervisory experience in the landscape or service industryBachelor’s degree strongly preferred in any of the following: Horticulture, Agriculture, Environmental Education, Ecology or Landscaping related fieldValid California Driver's license requiredExcellent oral and written communication skillsProficient with the suite of Google apps (Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Draw, Gcal, Gmail).Ability to describe and explain organic gardening techniques and methods to the clientFamiliar with irrigation systems
