General Job Description
This is a professional position responsible for serving as a campus liaison for community engagement and outreach, to include the service component for Greek life and faith-based student organizations as well as local community groups. Responsible for re-establishing and enhancing the division’s involvement with an extensive range of community stakeholder groups. Works under moderate supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Executive Director of Program Development and Evaluation.
Essential Job Functions
1. Promotes a positive profile of the university by providing advisement, training, and support to student organizations including Greek life, faith-based, and local community groups.
2. Supports planning for division-wide activities as well as service projects and community outreach.
3. Assists in the development of responsible student leadership through advising Greek life councils, faith-based organizations and community-based groups.
4. Oversees student groups focused on planning service and outreach initiatives.
5. Supports student organizations, including those involved in Greek life, faith-based, and local community activities, in understanding and complying with university policies and the Code of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity as well as local, state, and federal laws.
6. Ensures the goals and objectives related to Greek life, faith-based, and local community activities along with community engagement and service-learning are reflected in the department’s annual goals and strategic planning.
7. Serves as liaison to campus-wide and community-based planning committees, including those involving local nonprofit organizations, schools, and community partners.
8. Designs and delivers educational programs to address the needs of student organizations that include a focus on leadership, service, social responsibility, and civic engagement.
9. Compiles assessment data and maintains reports for Greek life activities, faith-based organizations, local community service programs, and outreach initiatives.
10. Provides logistical support for university-sponsored programs and events, including Greek life activities, faith-based and community-based projects.
11. Recommends policies, programs, and services that enhance student involvement in Greek life, faith-based, and community activities as well as service and outreach partnerships.
Non-Essential Job Functions
1. Assists with special projects when assigned.
2. Assist with summer orientation, advising, registration, and commencement activities when necessary.
3. May represent the department on various university committees.
4. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
1. Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, university policies and procedures.
2. Knowledge of student development theory as well as techniques and research associated with ensuring the success of various student populations.
3. Knowledge of national trends and programs related to the area of responsibility.
4. Skill in using computer applications including spreadsheet, database, publication, web development, and word processing software.
5. Skill in public speaking and delivering presentations to individuals and groups.
6. Organizational skills in managing projects simultaneously while maintaining a satisfactory work product.
7. Ability to think analytically and demonstrate creativity.
8. Ability to analyze complex information.
9. Ability to exercise sound judgment when making decisions.
10. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
11. Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.
12. Ability to explain policies and procedures to students, staff, and the public.
13. Ability to work independently.
14. Ability to work effectively and patiently with students.
15. Ability to obtain a Texas driver’s license and SFA permit.
16. Ability to travel to community stakeholder locations and regular required meetings on campus.
17. Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
Physical Demands
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in student affairs, counseling, higher education, or a related field is required.
Required Experience and Training
One year of related experience is required. Experience in successful planning, coordination, and completion of large scale, detail-oriented projects and events is required. Demonstrated success in building and maintaining strategic partnerships is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.

Benefit and Retirement Eligibility
This position is eligible for participation in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ) retirement plan, subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
