Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Community Planner/Outreach Specialist to join our Transportation & Environmental Planning team in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. The selected candidate will be responsible for translating complex technical concepts into comprehensible content and will play a crucial role in stakeholder engagement and public involvement efforts for major transportation infrastructure projects in the region.
The Community Planner/Outreach Specialist will be expected to:
Report directly to the NY Metro Environmental Lead in the Transportation & Environmental Planning group.Oversee and execute stakeholder coordination and public involvement tasks for projects of varying scales and complexities.Develop and produce content for social media platforms, press releases, and newspaper publications, ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of project information.Plan, organize, and facilitate client, stakeholder, and community meetings with a focus on effective communication and information exchange.Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create and deliver comprehensive presentations for both virtual and in-person meetings.Design, implement, and manage online survey campaigns to gather critical data and insights for project development and decision-making processes.QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
BA/BS in Communications, Journalism, Urban or Transportation Planning or related degree plus four years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.Preferred Qualifications:
Proven ability to support stakeholder communication, media relations programs, community outreach, and/or special events.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe InDesign, and online survey tools.Ability to facilitate public and stakeholder meetings at client specified venues and times.Experience working with public sector clients in the transportation industry.Familiarity with conducting public outreach as part of the NEPA process.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Additional InformationSponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.Relocation assistance is not available for this role.About AECOM
