JOB SUMMARY:
The Community Relations Assistant will coordinate activities and programs undertaken by the External Relations Department. This includes collaboration with public and private agencies, as well as community organizations and groups on supportive activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Corporate Community Relations Assistant will report the Director of Communications and work with the department to:
Provide administrative support to the External Relations Department. Solicit and update a monthly calendar of government and community events of interest to the agency. Coordinate Advocacy Day attendance and schedule district meetings to discuss issues of relevance. Coordinate responses to Political Action Alerts and advocacy campaigns. Work with Community Advisory Councils, government partners, program directors and the community to facilitate the participation of consumers in local community activities. Community Events: Support the planning, coordination, and execution of events, workshops, and initiatives aimed at fostering connections and addressing community needs. Collaborate with team members to ensure successful event logistics. Communicate with elected official offices, local community boards, and precincts to obtain current listings of local elected officials, civic, block and merchant associations. Ensure elected officials are invited to appropriate ICL events. Identify local organizations, schools, government agencies, faith-based organizations, and community leaders with which ICL can partner to enhance community engagement efforts, including collaboration on joint projects and initiatives that align with mission and values. Data Management: Maintain accurate records of community interactions, event attendance and other relevant data. Generate reports to assess the impact of community engagement initiatives and track progress toward goals.Location:
Although the Community Relations Assistant’s tasks will require some field work, they will be based in the Executive Office.

High School graduate and 2 years’ experience or Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field preferred. Community knowledge and skills. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Interest in working with community organizations.
