The Community Relations and Social Performance Advisor is a critical role supporting the Wagerup Alumina Refinery to embed a social performance culture and assist in managing community relations to ensure Alcoa’s social license to operate is maintained.

The role is responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with the local community, delivering high quality stakeholder engagement, coordinating the refinery’s social investment program and supporting it to meet Alcoa's Social Performance Management Standard and external performance commitments.

Build positive relationships with the local community, deliver high quality stakeholder engagement, and support the location to meet Alcoa's Social Performance Management Standard (SPMS) and external performance standards.

Support the delivery of strategic and tactical plans that deliver, protect, and enhance the location's social license to operate and grow.

Implement the location’s stakeholder and community engagement plan, and associated interactions, including with Aboriginal people and organisations.

Coordinate Alcoa's presence at local events that form part of the location's stakeholder engagement plan.

Assist with the coordination and delivery of consultation to support regulatory and organisational requirements, as well as other topics on behalf of the location (eg environmental approvals, capital projects, 5- year mine plan, GISTM, LTRMS, closure planning, RAP, issues management)

Manage community complaints and escalation of grievances in alignment with requirements of the SPMS, responding to and registering complaints and liaising with subject matter experts as required.

Identify and manage social issues and risks, and work with relevant colleagues to co-develop strategic and tactical solutions across corporate and operational contexts (including coordinating the production of relevant communications tools - key messaging, fact sheets etc).

What you can bring to the role:

Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Sustainability, Communications, Business, or a related field

Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience working in the social performance or community relations field.

Proven experience in social impact assessment, stakeholder engagement, and the implementation of social performance strategies to deliver and maintain social licence to operate.

Experience managing complex issues to support mutually beneficial outcomes with both internal and external stakeholders.
