Position Summary
The Community Youth Sports Manager is responsible for developing, strategizing, managing and overseeing the Community Youth Sports program as a ministry of the Tustin Ranch Corps. This includes establishing a Bible-based sports program which includes a discipleship program for athletes and volunteers, setting up leagues and tournaments, and supervising gym rentals. He/she will manage, and disciple staff and volunteers involved with Community Youth Sports, and establish ways to utilize sports to increase community engagement leading to growth in corps (church) membership and involvement.
Essential Functions
Administration
Lead the creation of engaging, high quality Bible-based community youth sports program (such as Upward Sports) as a ministry of the Tustin Ranch Corps. This includes securing volunteer coaches and referees, setting up teams, developing leagues both internally with other Salvation Army corps and in the greater community with other churches, communicating with parents and developing other support roles. Disciple staff/volunteer coaches Train staff/volunteers to disciple youth athletes Train staff/volunteers on Protecting the Mission (child safety). Work with Children’s Ministry Director and Generations Pastor to link youth athletes to the corps (church)Operations/Finance
Ensure a high standard of administrative protocol is adhered to for each program to include (but not limited to): Income/expenses, contracts, budgets, training, compliance, statistics tracking, and reports. Develop and implement evaluation metrics to measure program impact; initiate changes with staff/volunteers as needed Responsible for maintenance of and managing equipment inventory including repairs (i.e., noting any issues and coordinating repairs) Responsible for gym rentalsPersonnel
Recruit volunteers with experience and relevant background to lead and assist in various capacities such as coaches and referees. Assign staff and volunteers to support programming needs.Marketing/Fundraising/Communications
Coordinate with OC Volunteer/Events Coordinator and Corps Officers to rent out facility spaces for community sports groups; oversee and maintain programming spaces and room set-upsSeasonal duties
Assist where needed at corps seasonal programs (not limited to summer camps, divisional sports camp, etc.) Assist with Kettle Campaign effortsMiscellaneous

must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Must be able to grasp, push and pull objects such as general office and small recreational equipment. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

By virtue of its direct contact with, and representation to people who engage in Salvation Army programs, people who demonstrate an understanding of The Salvation Army’s Christian mission are required for this position. Attend and participate in all church activities (including Sunday services) as a member of the Tustin Ranch ministry team. Educational background in Christian Ministries, Education, and/or Biblical Studies (preferred). Minimum 2 years’ experience in sports management role Bachelor’s degree or 4 years equivalent work experience 3+ years of experience in program administration/management including program development, staff supervision, budget administration, and working with community partners (Preferred) Schedule: This position requires a flexible schedule. It Includes agreed upon onsite office hours, weekend games/practices, attendance at Sunday church services, evening activities and meetings, and camps requiring travel Must be 21 years of age or Older Valid CA driver license (clear MVR approved driver)Skills, Knowledge Abilities
