Companion Animals Business Unit Director

About the Role:

Reporting directly to the General Manager Animal Health Iberia, the Companion Animals Business Unit Director (BUD) will lead a successful and senior team within the Companion Animal Business Unit. As the industry continues to evolve in complexity, this role is crucial in ensuring that Animal Health (AH) is perceived as a leader in creating shared value with key stakeholders. The BUD will articulate a go-to-market approach and enhanced commercial and value offerings to ensure the unit achieves its strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Development:

Lead, guide, and motivate the Companion Animal commercial team while fostering diversity and inclusion within a one-team culture.

Ensure team members’ professional growth by implementing a Comprehensive Development approach to expand their functional responsibilities.

Develop personalized Employee Development Plans for all team members.

Enhance Key Account Management capabilities and promote cross-functional collaboration.

Financial Performance:

Accountable for achieving or exceeding Companion Animal Business Unit financial targets through efficient P&L management with leadership into the companion animal Spanish market.

Lead the preparation of operating budgets and sales forecasts that align with strategic business objectives.

Achieve key financial metrics including revenue, operating expenses and pre-tax income targets.

Customer and Market Strategy:

Maximize the potential of Ectos + Vaccines Franchises by achieving or exceeding financial and strategic targets for key products.

Establish strong relationships with key customers, distributors, and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and customer loyalty.

Lead digital & omnichannel adoption initiatives to enhance data analytic capabilities and implement omnichannel customer engagement plans.

Execution Excellence:

Ensure adherence to company policies and compliance with government regulations.

Foster a work environment that promotes leadership behaviors and new ways of working.

Accountability for Field Force Efectiveness with CRM as a  key tool for customer information management and data analytics.

What You Bring:

Degree in Health Sciences/Veterinary Science preferred, or in Business with a postgraduate qualification (e.g., MBA).

Fluent in Spanish and English.

Minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership position with substantial experience in a highly matrixed organization and significant P&L responsibility.

Deep understanding of the animal health industry, including market trends and business dynamics.

Significant marketing and commercial experience in the Spanish pharmaceutical market (Animal or Human), with knowledge of One Health principles.

Proven ability to influence stakeholders and experience in managing high-performing teams across diverse backgrounds.

Commitment to approximately 30% - 40% travel, both domestic and international.

Unquestionable ethics and integrity, with a strong track record in compliance.
