Independently develops, troubleshoots, and performs advanced histology processes. Assists in development of new SOPs. Conducts method development, evaluates procedures, and recommends improvements for efficiency and quality. Trains and guides team members in complex lab activities, addresses escalations, and analyzes workflows for optimal outcomes. Job Responsibilities: Independently develop, perform, and troubleshoot advanced histologic procedures and processes. Troubleshoot issues with equipment/procedures through root cause analysis, and implementation and documentation of corrective action. Conduct research, develop, evaluate, recommend, and implement new lab procedures/methods. Lead development and documentation of new Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Analyze workflow for new methods and identify opportunities to improve lab outcomes in terms of efficiency, compliance, accuracy, and quality. Assist with development of staff schedules and job assignments. Train and guide team members around complex lab services activities and address any escalations/deviations. Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Minimum Education and/or Training: High school diploma/GED required. Minimum Experience: 6+ years of experience in a comparable lab facility (e.g. clinical/vet diagnostic facility) required. Experience in maintenance and review of detailed records/reports preferred. Significant experience in gathering, computing, and analyzing data from reports/records/memos preferred. Experience in troubleshooting and decision-making based on data analysis against established criteria preferred. Experience guiding/training team members around complex processes and systems preferred. Proven performance in earlier role/ comparable role. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only: (NL) Certification as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician by the American Society of Clinical Pathology Board of Registry required within six (6) months of hire. Qualification in Immunohistochemistry (QIHC) by ASCP is preferred. Compensation In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
