Compensation Director

As the Compensation Director, you will drive execution of R1’s compensation strategy so that our business leaders receive proactive advice that helps them respond to critical shifts in the labor market.  Every day you will contribute to supporting the business with compensation planning and modeling, and supporting R1’s approach to job architecture governance so that we can provide a great infrastructure for HR practices.  You will collaborate with the Compensation team members on global compensation initiatives, including the Workday roadmap for Compensation, providing HRIS with direction and project management of ongoing improvements and new feature adoption.  As R1 continues to rapidly scale, you will also deliver compensation analyses for acquisitions.  You will develop and engage a team that works on key projects across all levels of compensation, governance, and day-to-day inquiries.

To thrive in this role you will use your strong project management skills to organize and develop compensation policies and practices in support of business priorities such as client integrations. You will also need to have a deep understanding of compensation practices, regulatory requirements, and market trends to ensure the company remains competitive and compliant.

Here’s what you will experience as a Compensation Director:

Leads/participates in the design, implementation/communication, and administration of compensation programs, primarily including salary and bonus, as well as a broad array of incentives and retention programs.Provides advice to business leaders and the HRBP team on pay decisions based on market data and business conditionsWork closely with senior leadership, HR partners, and other stakeholders to develop and execute compensation strategies that attract, retain, and motivate top talent.Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines, and procedures, proactively recommending plan revisions as well as new plans that are consistent with market practices/trends and corporate objectivesDrives completion of compensation cycles as well as ad hoc processes throughout the year: merit increase, year-end bonus payout, promotion, spot/retention bonus, etc.Leads/participates in compensation projects such as system enhancements and pay equity studiesCollaborates with the global compensation team on global projects and best-practice-sharingLiaises with Finance concerning the operation and financial impact of the compensation programs, such as budgeting, bonus modeling, and ongoing reconciliation and forecastStays current on new Federal and state legislation in order to ensure compliance with the compensation programsManages multiple, parallel projects with minimal direction, exercising independent judgment and initiative with autonomy

Requirements:

10+ years of Compensation experience, with some experience in both public and private organizations, additional experience with executive compensation a plusKnowledge of local, state, and federal labor laws and regulations related to compensation, such as FLSA, EEOC, ADA, etc.Strong Excel skills (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, working with large volumes of data, etc.)Expertise in executive compensation, job architecture governance, acquisition integration, and market trendsGood understanding of compensation practices, laws, regulations, taxation rules that impact employment and compensation matters as well as a deep understanding of market trends to ensure the company remains competitive and compliant.Superior analytical skills, able to work with large amounts of data with easeExcellent project management skillsExcellent oral and written communication skillsLeadership and presentation skillsStrong interpersonal and networking skillsBusiness acumen and strategic thinking

For this US-based position, the base pay range is $105,575.00 - $158,023.00 per year . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
