What We Are Looking For:
In close partnership with Bandwidth’s VP Total Rewards (Raleigh) and the other Compensation Manager on the team (Raleigh), the Compensation Manager manages and drives Bandwidth’s global compensation programs for our global locations including UK, Ireland, Belgium, Romania, Turkey, and Spain, but with a particular focus of time and effort dedicated to the United States. Responsible for recommending, maintaining and evolving competitive global compensation structures that align with our business goals and support our diverse workforce. This role requires a deep understanding of global and U.S. compensation practices, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions and regions. The Compensation Manager is a strategic thought leader and a consultative partner that together with Bandwidth’s other Compensation team members serves as our points of contact to PS Business Partners, recruiting, business leaders and frontline managers on compensation topics. S/he provides consultative, analytical and project management support in driving Bandwidth’s compensation philosophy.
What You'll Do:
Compensation Program Management: Benchmark new job descriptions using market survey resources including Mercer, Radford, Payscale (PayFactors), and WTW. Work closely with frontline managers to guide and counsel as they: write job descriptions, and as they create new hire offers, internal transfers and promotions, and market adjustments for their team members. Own and drive Bandwidth’s annual salary survey data submissions to market survey vendors for our US & international regions. Partner with PS business partners to support and guide leadership and frontline managers on Bandwidth’s global compensation philosophy, crafting creative solutions to meet and drive business objectives. Partner with People Services, HRIS team, Finance, and other departments to ensure seamless execution of compensation processes like the annual performance review program, end-of-year leadership bonus implementation, and annual LTI awards. Collaborate with HRIS team to improve functionality and usability in our Workday Advanced Compensation module, including designing reports, writing and updating rules, and testing. Assist and support the VP Total Rewards and the Chief People Officer in their work with the Board of Directors’ Compensation Committee, including liaising with the Board’s external executive compensation consultant, analyzing executive compensation benchmarking data, and preparing decks and materials for presentation to the Committee. Compensation Strategy and Planning: Conduct comprehensive market analyses and benchmarking studies to evaluate Bandwidth’s job families and compensation structures on a regular cadence, and adjust accordingly to remain competitive to market. Partner with business leaders and PS business partners to thoughtfully design meaningful job families & define career competencies to empower the mission and Bandmates’ career progression. Partner with comp team members and the VP of Total Rewards to manage salary structures, incentive plans (short-term and long-term), and recognition programs that attract, retain, and motivate top talent. Global Mobility: Administrates Bandwidth’s temporary work request process, and reviews and approves requests for temporary remote work requests that cross state and country lines for limited periods of time. Supports PS Business Partners and business leaders with global mobility requests (both voluntary and business-necessity). Analyzes compensation between countries to propose an updated compensation package in the new local country and helps build the budget scenario for business leader consideration. Drives the process of global mobility review with stakeholders including PS Business Partners, immigration support, tax teams, and the leadership chain of the Bandmate considering a global relocation. Communication and Training: Develop and deliver effective communication strategies to educate Bandmates and managers about compensation programs, updates, and best practices. Provide training and support to PS business partners, recruiters, and managers on compensation-related topics. Address Bandmate inquiries and resolve compensation-related questions promptly and professionally.What You Need:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certification (e.g., CCP, GRP) preferred. 5-7 years of experience in compensation, with a focus on US compensation practices; plus experience with global compensation philosophies preferred. Proven experience working with industry best-practice salary survey resources (could be Radford, Mercer, Culpepper, etc.; Payscale PayFactors experience is a plus) Strong knowledge of compensation principles, practices, and regulations across multiple countries. Knowledgeable about how to search and digest compensation survey resources, and how to successfully and efficiently respond to mandatory annual salary surveys. Advanced Excel skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate data-driven recommendations. Natural curiosity and a hunger to do the hard work of digging for answers and data, and unpacking thoughtful and complex answers. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis tools and HRIS (Workday experience a plus). Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization.Bonus Points:
