Contract Type Classified Salary If other, please specify Recruitment Type Open Position Details General Statement Montana State University seeks a dynamic Competitive Sports Senior Coordinator. This position reports within Campus Recreation, which aligns within the Student Wellness area within Student Success. This position will be a crucial part of managing the sports programs, processes, and infrastructure within the new Student Wellness Center, 168,000 square foot facility that is home to Campus Rec, Student Health Services, and Counseling & Psychological Services. The Competitive Sports Senior Coordinator will report to the Associate Director of Programs.
The Competitive Sports Senior Coordinator supervises all aspects of the Intramural Sports and Club Sports programs within the department of Campus Rec. This position will be responsible for cultivating a successful competitive sports program by engaging in collaboration and teamwork, intentional communication strategies, critical thinking, evaluation & assessment, budget management and student development practices. Duties and Responsibilities Coordination of a diverse and comprehensive Intramural Sports program. Includes scheduling, program planning, officials training, and implementation. Coordination of a Club Sports program of approximately 25 +/- club teams to include management of Club Sport groups, coaches, and advisors. Assist 25 club teams with budget planning, travel arrangements, and equipment needs. Help with oversight of fields, courts, and physical plant amenities related to practice and competitions. Assist with policy development and implementation and enforce and monitor risk management practices. Manage, supervise, and mentor student staff and Graduate Assistants. Maintain knowledge of and implement current industry best practices. Contribute to department wide operations and strategic planning such as budget processes, assessment, data tracking, student development initiatives, special events, and outreach. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Sports Management, Business, Sport Science or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education. Demonstrated experience in sports management or recreation. Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Master’s degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Sports Management, Business, or Sport Science or a related field. Experience in Higher Education. Demonstrated experience working and collaborating with University/Municipal/Private recreation organizations. Experience utilizing Fusion software. Demonstrated experience managing and advising Club Sports. Demonstrated experience officiating several sports at various levels. Current certification in CPR/AED or the ability to obtain the certifications within three months of hire (in-house training is available). The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate a commitment to promoting a whole community, which includes people of many backgrounds, in the recreation and wellness setting. Utilize a growth mindset when facing personal and professional development opportunities. Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, modeling professional and ethical behavior. Maintain a presence within the RSF department and the Student Wellness Center by attending program events in the evenings and weekends when necessary.
