Complex Casualty Examiner

Reports to: Claims Manager

Travel: 0-10%

Work Environment: Remote

Salary Range: $130,000- $165,000

About the role:
DUAL North America, Inc. is seeking a Complex Casualty Examiner to join its subsidiary Align Claims. This position requires a minimum of 10 years of claims handling experience handling high exposure bodily injury and property damage general liability claims involving complex coverage and risk transfer issues.  This is a remote role.  


Essential Functions:

Make initial contacts with interest parties

Evaluate and resolve third-party  bodily injury and property damage claims

Analyze coverage and draft coverage position letters as needed

Conduct liability investigations

Comply with DOI regulations

Assign defense counsel and communicate regularly to formulate an agreed upon litigation plan and legal budget on cases that go into litigation

Coordinate the retention of experts, subject to an agreed upon budget

Establish timely indemnity and expense reserves based on an exposure analysis that is documented in the claim file, revisiting reserve adequacy on a continual basis

Submit authority requests on cases above authority

Authority requests will typically involve a comprehensive report outlining all critical issues that formulate the basis for the authority request, as well as a verbal roundtable presentation/conference call

Travel to attend mediations, settlements conferences and trials on appropriate cases

Keep current on key changes in case law and industry trends

Assist underwriting and other business partners

Job Requirements (education, experience, skills):

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

Professional designations (CPCU, AIC, SCLA) are a plus

10 + years of overall claims experience required

Must be licensed or have the ability to become licensed in all required states

Strong written and verbal communication skills
