The opportunity
A rare and exciting opportunity to join the Claims Risk and Compliance Team as a Compliance Specialist for a 12-month Fixed Term Contract.
Reporting to Kate Peterson, Head of QA, Claims Compliance & Risk, you are a passionate individual who is looking for an opportunity to put your own stamp on things, play a key role in Claims’ vision and strategic ambitions for continuous improvement in compliance and risk management, and support our Claims operations to deliver superior customer service.
Your new role
The duties of this role involve (and are not limited to):
Working closely with the Head of QA, Compliance and Risk to implement and continuously improve the compliance and risk framework across Claims
Providing guidance and support to the operational claims teams to assist them to meet their compliance and risk management obligations
Providing active coaching, monitoring and follow-up of Claims Compliance and Risk Committee representatives to ensure that agreed actions of the Compliance and Risk Committee are implemented, and where applicable, embedded within the Claims teams
Collaborating with the Claims Business Intelligence team to develop and refine Power BI dashboards to support the reporting of key compliance and risk metrics
Monitoring, reporting and conducting analysis on compliance and risk activities, e.g. Issue and Incident management, Privacy breaches, Root cause analysis etc., to provide insights and recommendations for business performance uplift
Maintaining awareness of the regulatory environment and changing compliance obligations and providing training and advice to the Claims teams accordingly
Supporting the claims teams to manage risks, issues, incidents and controls in Insight, through being an ‘Insight champion’ and providing timely coaching and advice accordingly
Assisting in the development and roll out of compliance programs to ensure regulatory timeframes for implementation are met
Supporting the business with Delivered Risk Assessments, Privacy Impact Assessments, GenAI Assessments, managing DLP incidents etc
Supporting the Head of QA, Compliance and Risk to conduct the annual RCSA and Compliance Plan refresh processes across Claims and to provide reporting around Claims Thematics
Coordinating or providing timely Claims responses as required, e.g. PwC audit, requests for Claims compliance and risk data
Identifying and implementing opportunities to enhance controls and procedures, including across regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and best practices
Documenting compliance and risk processes and procedures, including periodically updating the Claims manual, Claims GST Manual and Performance and Governance owned Best Practice Guides
About you
Broad understanding and experience of the insurance industry, including: Claims, compliance and risk management
Extensive experience in implementing compliance and risk frameworks alongside experience in monitoring, reporting and conducting analysis on and compliance and risk activities.
Proven ability to influence and drive employee and stakeholder engagement and action.
Strong coaching and mentoring experience.
Experience in facilitating change and training initiatives through project management approaches.
Experience in documenting policies and procedures and implementing document management frameworks.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and stakeholders.
