FLSA Status: Full Time - non-exempt 
Reports to: Divisional Accounting Manager

Schedule: typical office schedule
Supervises: N/A

Rate of Pay: $23/hr

Function:

To work directly with Divisional Accounting Manager in the review of noted exceptions by the Accounts Payable staff.  Work with Divisional Accounting Manager in the performance and preparation of internal audits at least annually.  To assist assigned Corps and units with their accounting and to work with the unit head in the analysis of financial results as the third Corps Accountant handling a smaller number of units than Corps Accountants 1 & 2.  Work with Accounts Payable staff in processing payments for their assigned units.

Duties and Responsibilities

Input of all designated Corps income, bank transactions, and journal entries including: Proper account coding Proper recognition of same and sensitivity to GAAP requirements Proper and consistent organization of paperwork Verification of completeness of paperwork Preparation of all Bank Statements for designated Corps. Filing and upkeep of all related Corps accounting paperwork, including file storage room Responsible to assist Corps Officers in the Budgeting process Responsible for the preparation of materials requested in connection with Audits conducted both by independent auditors, as well as Salvation Army internal auditors. Supportive communication as a resource for officers and staff in the field. Assist in the processing of portfolio batches. Reconciliation of the General Ledger to Portfolio (Donor Database) for all designated Corps. Produce reports needed in the field or as requested by the Divisional Accounting Manager. Analysis of Corps balance sheet accounts. Serve as the resource to aid the Corps Officer in the understanding of financial matters Prepare monthly financial reports including notes and insights to equip the Corps Officer for presentation to the Advisory Board and United Way (if applicable) Coordinate with the Compliance Director to resolve any issues involving non-compliance to Salvation Army policies. Work with Divisional Accounting Manager to analyze financial reports for submission to CFC

Education, Experience, Skills, Qualifications

Preferred:   An Associate of Arts degree in Accounting from an Accredited college program and (1) year computerized accounting experience.  Appropriate professional experience may be considered in lieu of education. Required: A High School Diploma, Accounting schooling and (1) Year computerized accounting experience.

 Required Skills

Accounting: Ability to learn a basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles pertinent to The Salvation Army.                  Computer:   The ability to operate 10-key by touch and other standard office equipment in an efficient and effective manner is necessary.           Organization: The ability to multi-task in a time sensitive manner is essential. Professional: The ability to present oneself in a professional manner and maintain confidentiality and sensitivity in relation to information and documentation is essential.                                        Personal: The ability to interact with both co-workers and the management in a positive manner is   Driving (If the position requires driving): A minimum age of 21 (for insurance provision) and possession of a valid in-state driver’s license is required. An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies. Background Check Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.
