Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Compliance, this position contributes to the Bon Secours Mercy Health mission and vision by providing support and coordination of ongoing compliance activities including special projects, conflicts of interest, training and education, systems support and ongoing and new compliance initiatives. This position provides program-related support relative to Mercy Health Compliance operations system-wide.
Essential Job Functions
Supports Compliance department by collecting and coordinating internal compliance data from vendors and various internal departments and external sources.Assist in the preparation of compliance reports and maintenance of compliance databases. This includes, but is not limited to, reports submitted to the OCR, HHS and other regulatory agencies and departments.Provide input and assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of compliance activities including risk assessments, work plans, conflict of interest reviews, exclusion screening processes and efforts to align the compliance program with emerging internal and external expectations and requirements. Assists in the identification of emerging risk areas to incorporate into the development and maintenance of policies and procedures, education and communications.Maintains awareness of fraud, waste and abuse laws and regulations and current industry changes that may impact healthcare services domestic and international through personal initiative, continuing education and peer-to-peer networkingAssist with compliance monitoring and auditing activities. Required Minimum Education: 2 Year/ Associates Degree in Healthcare, Compliance, Law, Education. Bachelors Degree preferred
Licensure/Certification Preferred: CHC, Experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Records System
Minimum Years and Type of Experience: Two to four years of experience within healthcare operations, law, and compliance programs either from a consulting perspective or as an employee/manager.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Development and delivery of training materials and programs, to include experience in healthcare compliance, implementing regulatory changes and providing compliance related training. MS Suite experience (Access, Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams).Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Analytic and problem-solving skills to identify compliance risks and prioritize recommendations.Ability to take major strategic objectives and break them down into meaningful action steps.☒ Combination of post-secondary education and experience in lieu of a degree.
