The Compliance Counsel role is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing key compliance functions, including internal investigations, risk assessments, training, policy development, and third-party oversight. The ideal candidate will bring strong judgment, legal expertise, and a pragmatic, business-minded approach to operationalizing compliance in a dynamic media environment.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and support internal investigations involving potential misconduct, including fact-gathering, witness interviews, documentation review, and preparation of investigative reportsCoordinate remedial actions and track follow-up measuresSupport the implementation of compliance programs across various departmentsSupport the development and implementation of compliance monitoring plans and reporting mechanismsDraft and update compliance policies, codes of conduct, and standards of business practicesProvide guidance and training to business units on compliance policies and related obligationsMonitor enforcement trends and recommend policy updates as neededAssist in developing training content for employees on key compliance topics (e.g., conflicts of interest, anti-corruption, gifts & hospitality, third-party risks)Partner with HR and internal communications teams to ensure training is timely, accessible, and engagingConduct compliance due diligence on vendors, suppliers, and other third partiesConduct legal and compliance due diligence on M&A targetsAssist in developing and enforcing third-party onboarding protocols and contract risk assessmentsMonitor developments in relevant laws, regulations, and enforcement actions that affect company operationsAdvise internal stakeholders on compliance risks related to business activities, including marketing, distribution, content, and licensingContribute to enterprise and business unit-level risk assessmentsDraft integration memos and action plans to ensure seamless onboarding of acquired entities into compliance programsWHAT YOU WILL NEED
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law schoolMember in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar5+ years of relevant experience, including in-house, government enforcement (e.g., DOJ, SEC), or law firm white-collar/compliance practiceDemonstrated experience in internal investigations, corporate compliance, or regulatory counselingExcellent investigative, analytical, and legal writing skillsStrong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionallyHigh integrity, discretion, and ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalismComfortable operating in fast-paced, matrixed environments with multiple stakeholdersSound judgment and a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to legal riskProficiency in Spanish (written and verbal) is a plus, especially in supporting compliance matters in Latin America or bilingual marketsSome domestic and occasional international travelNICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $143,000.00-185,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.
