We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Compliance Engineer who possesses a strong background in Testing and Certification of Building Material products. As a Compliance Engineer, you will play a key role in Masonite’s ongoing designing, testing and certification of residential door components and systems. Your primary focus will be in applying your deep knowledge of Code & Standard requirements to advance our product designs and expand our knowledgebase in service of future innovations.
Responsibilities:
Interpret applicable safety and/or performance standards and apply the requirements to the products.Participate in product development teams to ensure that applicable regulatory, safety and performance requirements are considered.Understand product requirements and develop certification strategies to meet those requirements.Create test plans and oversee and interpret the test results in compliance with company and industry standards and policies.Prepare technical justifications and technical documents to demonstrate compliance to applicable standards.Interface directly with third-party certification agencies and manage projects with them.Write and execute test protocols in accordance with approval standards and procedures, record results and write test reports.Prioritize and manage work requests in an organized and timely manner.Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (highly preferred, Mechanical Engineering or Fire Resistance/Fire Protection/Fire Safety) or equivalent industry experience.
Experience:
Minimum of four years of experience in product design, inspection, testing and certification, is desirable.
Preferred experience in the fire resistance/fire protection/fire safety or fenestration industry (swinging doors, sliding doors, windows).
Preferred experience with UL10B/UL10C, NPFA252 and/or NFPA80.
Optional experience with research and development, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) & understanding of materials failure.
Experience with sustaining and new product development projects, and strong working knowledge of product development processes particularly verification testing and product certification.
Must be able to understand requirements in safety and performance standards and apply that knowledge in the evaluation of a product via technical analysis and/or testing.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to clearly present data and articulate test results to third-party certification agencies and other internal working groups.
Must have superior organizational and project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders, work effectively in a team environment and independently.
Must be able to perform essential job functions safely, and work within established company guidelines.
