Compliance Group Manager - Default and Loan Servicing
Description

Summary:

The Compliance Group Manager (CGM) is a senior leader within the Compliance Department and is responsible for overseeing and helping support elements of the Compliance Risk Management Program (CRMP) for the Consumer Loan Servicing and Default Servicing business areas. The CGM will help business partners proactively identify and manage compliance risk and serve as a strategic advisor to business leaders. The CGM will support these are   as by serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for existing and newly issued consumer and default servicing related laws/regulations including RESPA/Reg X, TILA/Reg Z, Homeowners Protection Act (HPA). the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and Flood Disaster Protection Act (FDPA).

Key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

Implementing enterprise CRMP elements within assigned business segments by establishing effective working relationships with senior management, discussing current and emerging compliance issues, and serving as strategic partners. Maintaining relationships with key, senior leaders within assigned segment/regulatory areas to create an environment where Compliance can serve as a key strategic partner and compliance risk can be properly escalated as needed.Delivering compliance expertise to senior business management by partnering with Legal and Risk to assess operations, identify and assess risks, and formulate effective changes to business practices to mitigate compliance risk.Participating in enterprise committees and/or working groups as needed to stay engaged in business activities, provide compliance guidance, and monitor implementation of the CRMP.Identifying and executing or oversee key Compliance program initiative throughout the year. Key items can include non-BAU projects designed to implement or enhance the CRMP, items designed to mitigate certain Compliance risks, or key deliverables that need to be executed throughout the year.Regularly providing updates on compliance risk within assigned businesses/regulations to senior Compliance management, including escalating novel or high-risk items as necessary.Proactively identifying and assess compliance risk and provide oversight and governance to help communicate and mitigate compliance risk.Working with first line risk, ensuring that all compliance risks applicable to the business area are accurately documented in Archer (Huntington’s governance, regulatory and compliance risk system) and those risks are controlled and tested.Developing, maintaining, and monitoring execution of required Compliance-owned training.Ensuring applicable Compliance policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated as required.Supporting Internal Audits and regulatory exams.Assisting with first and second line of defense compliance risk assessments.Managing compliance advisors who support the business. Responsible for performance evaluations, staff development/training, etc.Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience Required:

7+ years legal, risk, and/or compliance experience focused on consumer loan servicing and/or default servicing.Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business or law; advanced degree preferred.Compliance related certifications (e.g. Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager – CRCM)In-depth knowledge of consumer loan servicing and default servicing laws and regulationsExperience advising in the financial services industry on consumer loan servicing and default servicing (e.g., escrow management, flood compliance, foreclosure, collections, loss mitigation)Experience in regulatory exam managementKnowledge of mortgage banking servicing systems such as MSP a plusExcellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and communication across departmentsAbility to effectively prioritize work
