This position reviews, studies and maintains working knowledge of Practice Acts, Rules and Regulations and State Statutes that regulate the licensing of all medical and allied health practitioners under the jurisdiction of the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners. The selected candidate will be trained in the licensure and renewal process for all practitioners. For further information about this vacancy contact: Theresa Warren Human Resources Louisiana State Board Of Medical Examiners twarren@lsbme.la.go Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Six years of experience in accounting, auditing, administrative services, building inspection, real estate appraisal, law enforcement, investigations, or in the issuance or recommendation of medical licenses; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, administrative services, building inspection, real estate appraisal, law enforcement, investigations, or in the issuance or recommendation of medical licenses; OR A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, administrative services, building inspection, real estate appraisal, law enforcement, investigations, or in the issuance or recommendation of medical licenses; OR An advanced degree plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, administrative services, building inspection, real estate appraisal, law enforcement, investigations, or in the issuance or recommendation of medical licenses. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Concepts FUNCTION OF WORK: To supervise a staff of Compliance Investigators, and perform complex investigations on a wide range of alleged violations of Board/Agency policies, state and federal statutes, Civil Service rules, licensure, and ethics. LEVEL OF WORK: Supervisor. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Direct from Compliance Investigator 5, Executive Director or higher-level administrator. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Direct over two or more Compliance Investigators 1, 2, 3. LOCATION OF WORK: May be used by state agencies with an Investigative Division. JOB DISTINCTIONS: Differs from law enforcement investigators by emphasis on administrative rather than criminal investigations. Differs from Compliance Investigators 1, 2, 3 and 4-A by the presence of direct supervision. Differs from Compliance Investigator 5 by the absence of responsibility for managing an Investigative Division. Examples of Work Job Duties/Responsibilities: + Assists the Director of Investigations with a variety of administrative and investigative matters by assuming delegated authority in assigned areas. + Evaluates the effectiveness and accuracy of policies and procedures. + Recommends changes in policies and procedures relative to the Investigation and Enforcement Division. + Supervises program activities for monitoring licensees on probation and investigating complaints received. + Ensures that cases are followed up on timely. Retrieves information from subordinate staff and generates reports on said case follow up. + Submits reports to Director for review. + Plans, develops, directs, coordinates, implements and evaluates activities of subordinate staff. + Assigns and reviews work of subordinate staff. Provides training in job duties for subordinate staff. + Prepares timely performance planning and review documents. + Evaluates work performance. + Controls subordinate staffs time and attendance. + Communicates expectations to subordinate staff and conducts fair performance ratings. + Determines work priorities and procedures for greatest productivity and performance. + Counsels subordinates, recommends disciplinary action where appropriate. Recommends hiring/firing of subordinates. + Plans, implements and evaluates the development of computer programs and adaptations for use in the office to increase the efficiency of data accumulations, compilation and reporting. + Prepares official report of investigations and probation and submits said reports to the Director of Investigations.
