The Position

A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love. That’s what makes us Roche.

In the exciting role of Legal & Compliance Officer, you will act as a trusted partner to Roche’s Pharma affiliate in Finland in all legal, compliance and data protection matters. You will provide both strategic and operational advice to teams in order to help them navigate the complexities of Finnish laws and industry codes applicable to the pharmaceutical industry. You will liaise with Roche’s global legal, compliance and data protection networks to share standard processes and implement Roche’s internal guidance locally. With an entrepreneurial approach, you drive a local compliance program that ensures Roche’s license to operate and a strong compliance mentality in Finland.

The Opportunity

You build and foster trusting relationships with all teams at the Finnish Pharma affiliate to serve as an advisor and partner in legal, compliance and data protection topics. You advise teams on their projects, create and update legal document templates, and standard operating procedures, negotiate agreements, and implement internal and external guidance.

You map out and mitigate legal, compliance and data protection risks.

As the sole legal counsel in the affiliate, you provide high-quality, pragmatic legal advice.

You drive a compliance program to implement Roche’s internal as well as external mentorship in the affiliate and monitor compliance.

You act as the Data Protection Officer of the affiliate, providing guidance, tools and training to colleagues on data protection.

You identify training needs across the affiliate and drive impactful training programs to build vital capabilities.

Liaising with the local License to Operate Team and Roche’s global networks, you stay ahead of developments in applicable laws and regulations and implement any changes required in the affiliate.

Who You Are

You are qualified to practice law in Finland and have 5-7 years of experience, preferably at least in part at a major Finnish law firm.

You have solid experience in contracts and general business law, employment law, and data protection. In addition, exposure to the pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry, public procurement, clinical trials, medical and RWD studies, and/or competition law is highly beneficial.

You are a great teammate while independently leading legal, compliance and data protection in the affiliate.

You have excellent communication skills and ability to influence across all levels of hierarchy at the Finnish affiliate. You are comfortable with establishing common ground with internal and external partners, balancing out conflicting interests and reaching consensus.

You enjoy building relationships across the global Roche network as well as externally.

You have a positive, open mind and are keen to keep learning every day. You lean in with curiosity.

You are fluent in written and spoken Finnish and English. Fluent Swedish and/or German is a plus.
