Compliance Manager, Regulatory Governance Office

We are seeking a talented, senior individual to join our Risk & Compliance Team at Mercer. This is a hybrid role, working at least two to three days a week in our offices, based in either Sydney or Melbourne.

Compliance Manager, Regulatory Governance Office

Acting predominantly as the SME for CPS 511, you will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and enhancing frameworks and policies to ensure compliance with APRA's governance, accountability, and remuneration requirements.

You will also provide broader delivery support for all other compliance processes and activities across the scope of the Regulatory Governance Office, including the requirements of AFSL, FAR, and Fit and Proper.

We will count on you for:

CPS 511 expertise and implementation: Serve as the SME and leader for CPS 511 compliance across Marsh McLennan Pacific, including:CPS 511 framework: Lead the design, development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of CPS 511 compliance frameworks, ensuring alignment with APRA’s requirements for governance, risk management, and remuneration across Mercer Australia. Remuneration frameworks and policies: Collaborate with People and Culture design remuneration frameworks that are structured in accordance with the principles of CPS 511, including appropriate risk management and governance measures. Provide SME advice on the design and implementation of remuneration policies to ensure compliance with the prudential standards set out by APRA.CPS 511 risk management and governance: Collaborate with our People and Culture Team to ensure that executive remuneration (including bonuses, long-term incentives, etc.) is structured and reviewed in a way that promotes aligns with the regulatory intent of CPS 511. Compliance monitoring: Monitor and maintain compliance with CPS 511 by reviewing, tracking and reporting key compliance metrics and evidence to senior management and the board.Reporting: Design, manage and deliver robust reporting to ensure transparency, with timely identification of any gaps or non-compliance in the remuneration and governance frameworks.Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver CPS 511 awareness programs, ensuring ongoing awareness and understanding of regulatory obligations across the organisation.Broader compliance support: Provide broader execution support for the establishment, implementation, execution and ongoing maintenance of FAR and Fit and Proper processes for the company to ensure integrated execution of regulatory obligations. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to manage alignment with CPS 511 requirements, as well as broader regulatory compliance matters, providing guidance and updates as required.Benchmarking and continuous improvement: Continuously benchmark current practices against industry standards and best practices to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in governance, compliance processes and risk management.

What you need to have:

Deep experience in regulatory compliance or governance, preferably within a large superannuation or other financial services organisationSolid understanding of Regulatory and Governance legal frameworks and application, including the compliance environment relating to CPS 511 and FAR &/or BEAR.Experienced in interpreting regulation and in drafting formal corporate documentation, including proceduresDemonstrated ability to develop detailed knowledge of business processesGood organisational skills, with the ability to manage deliverables to tight deadlines and/or with rapidly changing priorities and demands.Senior specialist level interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication.Strong technical skills in regulatory/legal and compliance, including interpreting legal requirements of legislation and professional technical writing.Experience using available technology to improve practices and own productivity.The ability to make sound recommendations based on analysis and findings in reporting.
