We are looking for a Compliance Officer (Officer level) who will primarily focus on the oversight of and provide advice and guidance related to Investment Services and Global Delivery products for State Street Bank International GmbH – Italy Branch.
The successful candidate has expertise in compliance, legal or audit functions within the Financial Services sector, possesses strong attention to detail, is able to work independently but in collaboration with the broader team and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

What you will be responsible for
As a Compliance Officer you will:
Under limited supervision, work on various elements of a particular business units Compliance Oversight Program (COP), with particular focus on depository and custody areas ·
Understanding of various risk assessment frameworks and formulating recommendations for compliance strategies based on accurate identification of potential business risks, franchise risks, reputational risks, and emerging risks ·
Identify, analyze and provide compliance advice to the business and senior management on applicable laws and regulations, with specific focus on custody and depository, PSD, MiFID, Market Abuse, 231/01.
Design, plan, conduct and report on the testing within Compliance Advisory Reviews for SSBI
Exercise discretion and judgment with regard to matters of significance, such as supporting production of management reporting, including but not limited to data collection, qualitative and / or quantitative analysis, formatting and quality assurance ·
Work independently on specific assignments and consult with senior staff where clarification or exception to policy may be required ·
Under limited supervision, act as coordinator for resolution of compliance issues ·
Support communication to inform business units of regulatory developments and policy changes with particular focus on depository and custody areas ·
Support regulatory exams and investigations as appropriate
Coordinate the implementation of controls with the business and management ·
As requested, review work of others for technical accuracy and provide input with the goal of enhancing the teams efforts to mitigate regulatory risk
Drive open and collaborative communications ensuring regulatory information is shared in a timely manner with key functions ·
Share in the establishment/implementation of compliance training and education programs to keep business personnel apprised of compliance policies and regulatory obligations (inclusive of new employee induction training) ·
Actively participate in risk management projects · Cultivate effective relationships with internal business partners to successfully achieve organizational goals ·
Identify and report all risk and compliance issues, breaches and suspicious activities · Establish and maintain relationships with the other Compliance staff members globally ·
Complete assigned periodic training as required by corporate methodology (annually, quarterly, etc.) ·
Identify real-time process improvements and suggest resolutions where needed · Perform other duties as required
Support the team in the management of 231/01 Committee’s tasks

Education & Preferred Qualifications
MA/ MSc/ BA/ BS (or equivalent experience) in a related field
Minimum of 4-5 years relevant work experience with risk, compliance, legal or audit functions within the financial services sector preferred
Excellent critical thinking skills
Ability to communicate with and appropriately influence all levels of management
Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and presentation skills
Excellent project management and organizational skills
Strong customer focus
