Compliance Officer - Amazon Gift Cards, Risk and Compliance Solutions
Description Amazon is seeking an experienced financial services compliance professional to serve as the Compliance Officer leading our regulated payments entity in Japan (prepaid instruments, such as Gift Cards, and insurance products, such as Pet Insurance). The ideal candidate will oversee the development of compliance frameworks and policies focused on Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Anti-Social Forces (ASF) and Regulatory Compliance to meet JFSA requirements as well as Amazon global standards. The ideal candidate will support Amazon’s regulated programs (Gift Cards, Pet Insurance) by being a key influencer to our business leaders, providing crystal clear advice on requirements so that the products remain compliant and ahead of regulatory expectations. They will leverage knowledge of Payment Services Act / Insurance Laws from other jurisdictions to help address areas of local ambiguity. To be successful, the ideal candidate will need to be confident in engaging internally (in Japanese and in English) across business, legal, operations, and technical teams to influence the direction of products and design risk-based controls. The ideal candidate will also be confident in advising senior stakeholders on the compliance implications of business decisions, as well as being credible in liaising with external regulators. Key job responsibilities - Collaborate on new product initiatives to advise on regulatory impact, define compliance requirements, and establish appropriate compliance policies and controls to facilitate the successful launch. - Maintain a documented view of regulatory change in order to detect and respond to regulatory developments and issues that may pose compliance risk; educate senior leaders and guide local business teams in the development of risk-based controls. - Manage regulatory inspections and coordinate any external audit processes, maintaining productive relationships with regulators on an ongoing basis and ensuring timely and accurate response to inquiries. - Promote a culture of compliance, proactively engaging with business teams to educate on compliance concerns, understand business objectives, and influence product design. - Manage the day to day functions of the compliance program, inclusive of the submission of required regulatory reporting and oversight of business owned controls. - Prepare reports to senior management and senior business leaders with timely and actionable intelligence concerning the health of compliance programs. - Lead and coach a team, through supportive and clear expectation setting, to ensure the team are seen as value-add to business stakeholders.
