Position Information
We are seeking a Compliance Officer I who monitors and facilitates compliance program with federal, state, and Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) regulatory and governing standards, including but not limited to laws, regulations, statutes, codes, policies, and directives, as well as compliance with AgriLife rules and procedures.
Responsibilities:
-Assists the AgriLife Ethics and Compliance Director in the review, interpretation, implementation and update of System and AgriLife rules, procedures, and college guidelines.
-Acts as the AgriLife Rule Coordinator: tracking all rules, procedures, and guidelines. Ensure that timely reviews, revisions, and updates are completed by subject matter experts for the regular 5-year review or when warranted by System policy/regulation changes or internal process changes.
-Responsible for drafting new AgriLife rules and procedures as required by System or at the request of the Ethics and Compliance Director or AgriLife leadership.
-Assists with developing and accessing compliance programs. Interprets departmental policies, rules, regulations, and ensure they are followed.
-Serves as the designated AgriLife Records Retention Officer: serves as the contact for records retention needs. Liaison with unit Retention Coordinators on destruction forms and retention schedule needs. Work with the System Office of General Counsel as needed.
-Serves as the backup to the AgriLife Public Information Officer: Complies and organizes data associated with such requests. Works with the System Office of General Counsel as needed.
-Coordinates with Ethics and Compliance staff to draft, review, edit, and publish office news, website and training content.
-Assists in developing, establishing, and maintaining an effective and broad-based compliance program based upon ethical conduct and a commitment to compliance with all applicable laws, policies, rules, and procedures.
-Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and develops a plan of action to bring any non-compliant areas into compliance. Responds to apparent violations of policies, procedures, or other regulatory standards by recommending and participating in investigative procedures.
Education and Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Four years of related experience in administration, program management, risk and compliance, or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
-Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-Strong interpersonal skills to communicate and coordinate with colleagues at all levels within the organization.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Knowledge of Federal Regulations, Texas State Statutes, Texas A&M System Policies and Regulations, Texas A&M University Rules and SAP’s, Texas A&M AgriLife Rules, Procedures and Guidelines.
Knowledge of Texas A&M System process of policy and rule drafting, review and revision.
-TAMUS structure, Maestro, FAMIS, CircuiTree, AggieBuy, Concur, Huron, etc.

Salary: Compensation for this position is commensurate based on the selected candidate’s qualifications.
Flexible Work Arrangements: Flexible work schedule and remote work may be available for this position, pending employee eligibility requirements are met in accordance with AgriLife Alternate Work Location Procedures.
