Compliance Officer III

The Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) administers the Unemployment Insurance (UI) program which provides temporary income assistance to Massachusetts workers who are unemployed through no fault of their own and who are able to work, available for work and looking for a job

The Compliance Officer III position, in compliance with mandatory Federal Accuracy Measurement (BAM), Paid Claims Accuracy Program (PCA) and Denied Claim Accuracy (DCA) Program will be responsible for the following:

Investigate/audit UI claims utilizing knowledge of UI state and federal policy/regulation/law. Collect and review existing claim data and documentation. Obtain/create new and original fact finding through multiple methods of investigation. Analyze data obtained to identify errors in the application of UI policy/regulation/law and obtain statistical labor information. Detect improper payments and improper denial determinations.Develop an informative written case summary of findings that include verifications and documentation for supervisory review and analysis. Maintain current knowledge of the MA Employment Security Law (MESL), Federal DOL BAM regulations, and Federal SUN computer system software.Participate in review of cases investigated by other BAM staff from Massachusetts and outside of Massachusetts. May supervise the implementation of process improvements identified because of the BAM investigations.Participate in Benefits, Timeliness and Quality (BTQ) audit as required.

SALARY PLACEMENT IS DETERMINED BY YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE POSITION AND THE HUMAN RESOURCES DIVISION’S RECRUITING GUIDELINES. IN THE CASE OF A PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITY, THE SALARY PROVISIONS OF THE APPLICABLE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WILL BE UTILIZED FOR PLACEMENT WITHIN THE SALARY RANGE.

Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in investigatory, law enforcement or regulatory administration work, or (B) and equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

Substitutions:

A Bachelor's or higher degree may be substituted for a maximum of the two years of the required experience.

Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
