Compliance/Privacy Officer

Manages, develops, implements and monitors policies, procedures, processes, training, corrective action plans and overall operations to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations affecting Summa Health. Works collectively with management and other personnel to ensure that compliance and privacy initiatives are implemented at all Summa Health entities. For assigned components, this role is responsible for leading efforts implementing, monitoring and tracking Compliance Program elements for adherence to industry regulations, system policies, Federal Sentencing Guidelines, accreditation standards and State specific requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Formal Education Required:
a. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

2. Experience & Training Required:
a. Four (4) years of relevant experience such as: health care operational experience, compliance administration, auditing and data analysis.
b. Working knowledge of Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Civil Rights (OCR) and Office of Inspector General (OIG) guidance for healthcare compliance.

3. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Experience with data analysis tools and techniques are preferred.
b. Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
c. Knowledge of Medicare Reimbursement System and/or billing and coding rules.
d. Knowledge of Learning Management System – Health Stream.
e. Knowledge of risk assessment and monitoring activities related to compliance risks.
f. Knowledge to effectively communicate with health care providers at all levels.
g. Strong analytical skills.
h. Ability to work in a self-directed team by taking and sharing in the responsibility of the team.
i. Self-motivated.
j. Able to evaluate the scope of each day’s work and use time management and organization skills to accomplish assignment.
k. Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) and/or Certification in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) – preferred – requires 1500 hours working in healthcare compliance prior to examination.
l. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with patients/customers with the understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.

4. Level of Physical Demands:
a. Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.

$33.66/hr - $50.49/hr

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members when determining offers. Please keep in mind that the range that is listed is the full base salary range. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical.
