Component Quality Engineer, Optics

**Summary:**
Meta is seeking a Component Quality Engineer responsible for working with our suppliers and manufacturing partners to develop and implement world class quality programs for Optical components used in Meta Infrastructure.
**Required Skills:**
Component Quality Engineer, Optics Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) performance metrics to assess and enhance product quality
2. Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential failure modes/high volume manufacturing challenges and their impacts in the evaluation of advanced optical technologies
3. Design and carry out reliability tests to assess the performance and durability of optical modules and components. Establish advanced in-house testing capabilities for reliability and performance to strengthen overall product design robustness
4. Lead continuous improvement initiatives based on Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and identified opportunities in collaboration with optical suppliers. Work with cross-functional teams to implement design enhancements and preventive measures
5. Perform regular audits of manufacturing facilities.
6. Partner with Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs), component suppliers, and Quality Assurance (QA) teams to ensure comprehensive coverage
7. Create detailed reports and dashboards that document reliability test outcomes, failure analysis insights, and recommendations for improvement
8. Review and qualify supplier product, process and engineering change notifications.
9. 10% International travel may be required.
**Minimum Qualifications:**

10. Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics and/or related field
11. 5+ years of experience in the development and validation of optical communication components such as lasers, transmitters, receivers, and transceivers
12. Experience in high-speed optical and electrical test and measurement equipment, control, data acquisition and test automation
13. Knowledge of reliability mechanisms and modeling/predictive fail rate analyses. Experience in creating or influencing product reliability test strategies.
14. Proven understanding of quality systems, audit experience and knowledge of statistical quality tools to drive and assist suppliers in continuous improvement initiatives.
15. Experience working with and managing off shore contract manufacturers.
16. Proven communication skills.

17. Experience with advanced modulation formats, direct detect and coherent systems (e.g., OOK, PAM-4, QPSK, 8-QAM, 16QAM)
18. Experience with optical integration including InP PICs, Silicon-photonic PICs, PIC-IC integration, and 3D optical/silicon packaging technologies
19. Programming skills in one or more of the following: Python or MATLAB
**Public Compensation:**
$170,000/year to $240,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
