POSITION TITLE: Compounding Pharmacy Technician DEPARTMENT: Pharmacy NATURE OF POSITION: To provide technical support for the provision of pharmaceutical services under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Compounding Pharmacist, Pharmacist-in-Charge, and Director of Pharmacy MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : + High School graduate or equivalent required + Must be at least 18 years of age + Technician training or equivalent experience in a pharmacy + Technician permit from the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy in good standing RESPONSIBILITIES:   + Communicate clearly and effectively with physicians, co-workers, patients, and the public + Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers + Always protects the confidentiality of patients and their records by complying with COFMC Patient Confidentiality and HIPAA policies and procedures + Provides excellent phone etiquette and service by stating his/her name, job title and department + Actively participate in agency-sponsored staff training events, (Safety instruction, evacuation drills, OSHA training, etc.) + Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to adapt to The Clinic’s needs with a positive attitude + Process prescriptions and solve insurance rejections and issues in a timely manner + Prepare dosage units for pharmacist’s review from prescriber’s orders which may include oral and topical medications + Input, prepare, and label, as well as verify expiration dates and lot number when applicable in coordination with prescription requirements according to Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy + Ensure that all medication preparation activities are verified by the pharmacist + Manage, order, and receive pharmacy supplies in conjunction with pharmacists + Demonstrate the ability to accurately mix ingredients of medications in specific quantities for needs of individual patients + Ability to maintain a sterile environment during the mixing process of drugs, chemicals and hazardous substances and pass inspections + Maintain compounding standards as set forth by USP795, USP800 and the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy + Performs other duties as assigned ORGANIZATION:   + Exhibits enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and professionalism in the workplace + Handles personal conflict and works through it at the lowest possible level (first with party/parties involved, then, if necessary, with 3rd party mediation) + Displays a friendly manner and is easy to approach + Maintains a neat, clean, well-groomed, appearance and dresses in accordance with the dress code policy + Leaves personal problems out of the workplace + Treats all co-workers with dignity and respect + Abstains from gossip in the workplace + Arrives on time and works through designated hours + Completes tasks effectively, accurately and on time + Demonstrates little or no absenteeism/follows leave guidelines + Follows designated line of support + Display a willingness and flexibility to respond to unusual job-related demands + Manages time well + Recognizes and assists others in the work of the department, even though the work may be outside of regular duties + Shares equally in the workload of the department + Works cooperatively with all team members and departments + Works independently requesting assistance from supervisor only as needed + Abstains from criticizing COFMC, colleagues and supervisors + Demonstrate loyalty to COFMC, colleagues and supervisors + Demonstrates support of the mission and vision of COFMC + Accepts and participates in cross training + Takes initiative to identify skill development needs + Commitment to the mission of COFMC.
