Comptroller (CPA Required)

Beacon Hill Financial is searching for a contract to hire Comptroller position for our client in the St. Louis area. This role requires candidates to have a CPA (willing to assist with renewal of CPA if expired). The role is paying 105k - 115k annually depending on experience. If interested, please apply.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities

Develops and maintains a system of general ledger accounting to control financial resources Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk. Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards. Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure performance. Produces the annual budget and forecasts: reports significant budget differences to management. Develops and maintains internal accounting controls to protect resources and detects and eliminates errors in accounting practices.Solves accounting problems in the areas of payroll, accounting, cashiering, expenditure accounting, revenue accounting, and sponsored program accounting.Assists in external A133 Single audit Reconciles and analyzes accounting financial statements.Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and payroll

Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification active and in good standing preferred. At least eight (8) years of work experience in financial management or accounting, with at least five (5) years at the supervisory level

Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.Strong presentation skills.Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.Knowledge and understanding of the mission, goals, organization, and operational/financial infrastructure of a public University.Knowledge of accounting standards related to not for profits and universities and federal, state, and local laws and regulations.Highly developed and comprehensive financial management skills.Possess excellent problem solving, analytical and business skills, and strong project management skills to meet deadlines and work effectively with others.Effectively supervise staff, build a strong team, successfully lead and deploy innovative technology and efficiencies by providing strong leadership and management skills.
