An exciting opportunity has been created for an experienced researcher to join Dr. Olga Nikolova’s group as a Computational Biologist I at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR. Dr. Nikolova’s research program is focused on predictive models for cancer biology, with a special interest in leukemia.

 

Duties will include computational analysis of genomic bulk and single-cell data in both single modalities and multi-omes, including RNAseq, ATACseq, CITE-seq, CyTOF, and custom assays developed in-house. Applicant will establish and maintain pipelines and participate in data analysis and visualization. The applicant will develop new tools and methods for analyzing emerging data types and adapt statistical methods to assess the robustness of new tools. The applicant will be able to independently interact with wet-lab biologists to analyze data and guide the analysis strategy. Will be responsible for the deposition of sequencing data and published algorithms. Will work with other investigators to enable their use of algorithms developed by the team. Will participate in the writing of grants and manuscripts. Applicants will need to possess strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

 

Experience with R, Python, and Bash/Unix is required. Salary will be commensurate with experience. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is capable and willing to make maximum use of excellent facilities and a productive environment.

Required Qualifications

Education & experience:

Master's Degree in Computational Biology or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Computational Biology or related field AND 3 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Proficient with computers, relevant programming languages, and environments, methods, and toolsTechnical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaborative ability, and independent thinkerProven ability to work collaboratively with a high-performing work groupMust have excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills:  both written and verbalAbility to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problemsDemonstrated ability to learn new and innovative processes quicklyMust possess energy and drive to coordinate multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships Preferred Qualifications 4 years of experience with computational analysis of genomic dataExperience with analysis of single-cell data, such as scRNA-seq, CITE-seq, scATAC-seq Additional Details
